Has anyone got a proper one of these so I can compare the run out details?

The much talked about (in recent times) release by John Anderson from the 70s - I Belong To You / Like A Rolling Stone - has it ever been booted? I can see a "reissue" on disco's with I Belong on both sides...

The beginning of the journey for me - Frankie & The Classicals was part of my introduction to northern as a 13 year old in 1974, still have the copy I bought back then with all the other disco demands and still love it!

Correct about it starting before the films Russ. On your second point about them all buggering off, I think I've said to you on here before when this topic has been discussed you'll be waiting a long time cos theres no sign of it happening any time soon. They're here to stay whether we like it or not. I remember being at a local soul night quite a few years ago and noticing that out of maybe 15/20 people standing near me who I knew well, only 5 of us had any history of the 'proper scene'. The rest have just jumped onto the bandwagon for a safe night out with people their own age. In effect a large proportion of the scene (if you can still call it that) has just become a social night out for the over 50s. The quality of the music is irrelevant to these people and this is reflected in the lack of atmosphere at a lot of place IMO - dancers just going through the motions like robots with no obvious passion on display. I've always struggled hearing lyrics clearly in a lot of records. Someone posted a while ago about the lyrics in the Formations At The Top Of The Stairs and I found it brought a whole new element to the record listening to it while reading the lyrics. Same for this one, its unbelievable really how different the record sounds when you know what the singer is actually singing!

Unfortunately the record that stands out in my mind from my first trip to Wigan (march 78) is Muriel Day... I reckon it was played about 4 times that night Ive had nightmares about it ever since...

It's ceased to be underground twice (as mentioned previously) 74/5 with the likes of Pye disco demand, TOTP appearances etc then again in the mid 90s with a massive influx of returnees plus a lot of never were's of the same generation. Factors second time - TV adverts, cd compilations available in your local supermarket, the internet and large promoting organisations who's main concern is getting the maximum number of bodies through the door. For an underground scene, its only been underground for about 40% of its total life approx 20 years out of 50 (65-74 and 79-95) Of course there's still a true underground going to this day that the majority are either unaware of vaguely aware of, but thats another topic...

I agree, both £30 - if you're selling stick em in sales at £80 each..... they'll fit right in

I don't know who's right and who's wrong in all this but as you have may have guessed, by the number of people on FB getting excited at seeing it or disappointed at missing it, this is important to quite a few. Its a part of our scenes history and our own long lost youth and to see it after 40 years is nice. In an ideal world it should be in the public domain and not just for someone who paid money for it
