  2. very odd... the daftest one, was the right track, Peterboro. if you turned up without pre-booking, you were shown the door. never understood that.. (happened to me, even tho Tony clayton knew me). the parkway club were a strange lot.
  3. i believe a ton of Frank Beverly , on Sassy, were in that lot. £3 i paid for mine
  4. life is too short..... do other things. me, i play drums in 3 bands, i get out on my bike, as much as poss (touring the continent included), i go to gigs, most genres, i support local live music, walk my dogs, meet old mates for a beer, plus, i go to the odd soul night. these days tho, i prefer what you like to refer it as 'handbagger' nights. the commercial/club stuff is to my liking, as is the classic northern soul and the underplayed stuff. if you like a venue, go, if you dont, then stay home , or do other things. (see my first line) as for the future , 10 years ago, i personally thought it was nearing the end, but it clearly isn't . which means , most of us will be enjoying it for a while. thankfully !

  14. Manchester ritz (all nighter ) . 1982/83 i think . Austin 1100. myself and Neil Olive set off, only to break down on the M62 near huddersfield. Cops gave us 30 minutes to get recovered, or they would do it. so we pushed it off at the nearby junction and parked up in a gateway. where i kipped down on the back seat, with a wool blanket, leaving Neil to freeze in the front ... luckily i had a CB radio (true story), where by a local wannabe mechanic came along in the morning and fixed the distributor, which got us on our way home. daft thing is, another mate, Biz, refused to get in the car with us, coz he said the motor looked a bit dodgy, how right he was. ... Also remember going to Alfreton, only to find we were a week late.
