  1. we'll be venturing South this weekend. makes a change to go 'somewhere new'. maybe others' should try it! bit of Northern. bit of early Motown, bit of RnB ( i like to call it early soul ). There will be mods, Skinheads, 'Souies' , all dancin and all havin a good time. We've stayed home on many weekends because of the sheer number of events on in the region (FAR too many). yes we love the oldies scene, but we also tire of hearing the same records week in week out. . if you're tired of the same old thing. try something different, we do! p.s. It may help if some DJ's show a ittle enthusiasm whilst playing tunes. i've seen more life in a tamps vest.
  2. I dont know either and i dont know what they fetch, ne. ver seen one before. thats what i found interesting
  3. very interesting,, gone way over my budget now https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/350488083720?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649
  4. instrumentals ? BILLY'S BAG !
  5. yep..... always full, always hot. as an infrequent visitor to station rd, the musical memories for me (from upstairs) are: Towanda Barnes - you dont mean it, Spencer Davis group, Otis smith, The O'jays - I love music, Linda Jones- just cant live my life. I loved M's . I was never a 'night person' , i just couldnt stay awake after 4am. I'd get a swift nudge off a mate letting me know a fave was on, suddenly i was goin for it like i'd had a shot of adrenalin. awesome place
  6. I know someone who had a belt with the LED thingy on that read "third window from the right" https://www.beltbucklesgalore.co.uk/led-belt-buckles.html
  7. oh yes. The Present - shockin' . as bad as The Cherry people
  8. why is Interplay welcomed at a 'soul' night, but Esperanto is frowned upon ? as far as im concerned, they're both as bad as the other. neither are remotely related to R n B/Soul in any form, yet Derek & Ray always fill a dancefloor, yet i darent spin The Grand Piano company for fear of a lynch mob! strange world we live in
  9. I dislike the manufactured stuff: solid ground, hip teens, etc. dancers love em, but i cant get my head around em! not many i dont like, i think its more to do with a tune being overplayed ie: I walked away ....... gets right on my nerves
  10. very sad, talent all the way. i'll post one of my faves (along with Mr Creator)

  12. strange the Yvonne Baker is commanding that price when you can get a bonafide UK London for around a tenner
  13. whats the deal with this label? i've seen various tunes over the yrs: Bobby Diamond, Vibrations, Poppies etc. is it a legit pressing or a dreaded 'boot' ?
  14. just tried to find the auction but it seems to have gone. what was the final selling price? I saw a bootleg of this tune fetched 50 odd quid. nice one Tone, keep searchin mate.
  15. now thats some play list ...
  16. Rita & the Tiaras on Destiny is ? a: legitimate b: Bootleg I have no idea, hence the question
  17. Nice one Mark !! chuffed to bits for ya mate
  18. ermmm. im lost now. mine is a demo, with the UV5134 in the deadwax, slightly raised edge, dull label colouring, but not really thin (the Carl Carlton of mine is the same thickness) .......... the problem lies ( me usually) with the 'trust' factor when buying. I bought mine as a def original, but these kind of things throw it all into turmoil ! I'm no expert, so ignorance/inexperience on my part has probably cost me a few bob. onward and upwards
  19. now them's surreal moments I only have one..... Womack & Womack at Nottm Royal centre...... both sitting on the stage spouting a load of bollocks. possibly the worst gig i'd ever witnessed. or Edwin Starr in the early 80's at Yarmouth scooter rally . changed the lyrics to his tune 'smooth' " Smoooooooooth , the SCOOTER is smooth" a surreal (or cringeworthy) moment indeed
  20. i'll take the Tymes please if still available
