  1. Always liked "Prelude to a heartbreak" early 70s ballad
  2. Was that "Come spy with me" there was also a marvalettes "b side demo that played My baby must be a magician but is titled" Here I am baby"
  3. .Love the major too. Many many great sides, I particularly liked his volt output but my favourite was the contempo remake of" Dark and lonely"which is odd for me because 9 times out of 10 I prefer the original. I must add that his album that came out on soul was in my opinion very poor. Id be interested if anyone knows how this came out on Soul? as no one on motown seems to have been involved.
  4. "Gotta find a way" Cheesey but great intro. then a soul classic
  5. right up there with the very best miracles records
  6. The best lyrics! The best backing! The best vocals! Its the record that keeps on giving....
  7. Jackie Wilson "Higher and Higher"
  8. And you are paying a lot of money for a record that you wouldn't dare play out at most of todays venues. So what are you going to do with it keep it in a box at home?
  9. You might not like it....but its importance to the history of the scene make it a must have record for some! it will fetch a bit more yet
  10. Didn't H.B Barnum perform" Having a party" on top of the pops in the seventies. which was on power exchange?
  11. I did try to give the heads up that it was J J Barnes in a previous post relating to the London boot. on the 24th January
  12. it really is depressing. Almost every week bootlegs are discussed on here, I'm beginning think most people are in favour .,boasting about purchasing and even framing them. if no one bought them no one would press them Sadly there seems to be no solution!
  13. ive been told the b side, our love is in the pocket has the j.j.Barnes version by mistake. is this true?
  14. Mine arrived too this morning..... Must be selling well. I'm going to watch top of the pops tomorrow night to see if its charted!
  15. I got a mint issue from a seller on here last year. I forgot to cancel the post. hope you can sort something out between yourselves.
  16. Kenny Lynch; Moving Away Great Record!
  17. Just thought of another male great Oscar Toney Jr! Still going strong at 76. His work with Papa Don Schroeder in the 60s was fantastic, but for me the sides he cut for contempo with Gerry Shury were even better. very underrated and I'm pretty sure will be re-evaluated in the near future.
  18. Always been one of my favourites!
  19. its the backing I cant seem to get my head around. some of the vocals are still great. I think with proper instrumentation they could have been superb.
