there was a tainted love/ come go with me. released for this years record store day. sound quality excellent and cheap. Could be worth seeking out.
  11. the hidden cd track that im aware of is on an early goldmine cd " This is Northern Soul" track 2 plays Strange Neighbourhood which is not listed anywhere on the cd a great bonus. However it then throws all the track listings out for the rest of the cd which can be a problem. Dont know if they are all like this?
  12. heres one nobody on here will be aware of. Detroit Emeralds Lovatt Hall Newport Pagnell 1974.....and they were brilliant!
  13. ive been playing through my chess singles, lots of great varied stuff but knocked out by all the fontella bass records "rescue me" we all know but "recovery" "safe and sound" and "i cant rest" are sooooo good. Fantastic productions brilliant backing and vocals to die for. very motowny to me. there cant be many females that can match the quantity and quality of northern dance tunes!
  14. oh! no centre thats why its so cheap
  15. the soul packs from contempo in the 70s were 10 for a £1 . thats 10pence each! then they had to be packed adressed and posted. how did they do it? and what must they have paid for these records that had to be shipped all the way from america. i had a few back in the day nothing rare joe simon on sound stage 7 mad lads , emotions ,major lance on volt, dells on cadet, continental 4 jaywalking , five stairsteps cutom, some king releases. They were great records for a 16yr old who had only heard a bit of motown and top of the pop soul at the local disco. Really its what started me off on the journey and over 40yrs and 7000 records later still buying.
  16. i always thought the import of the dreams jessie james sounded better than the jay boy release. though i would agree that british is usually best!
  17. Update............... now £322! whoever is bidding is not reading this thread or thinks we havent a clue!
  18. they dont seem to come up for sale very often . and its a great record.what would a demo fetch ?
  19. the ones i would have nominated have already been mentioned, a point id like to make is that when it comes to 45s 90% of my favourites would be from the 60`s however when it comes to albums most of my favourites would be from the 70`s and my collection reflects that.
  20. yes. but a very good one!
  21. hi ian which of these are making their uk release for the very first time? hope the film/cd/records are a big success!
  22. Whats Going On?
