  1. I know Pete French recently listed one for £1400 - not sure what condition was tho.
  2. Wonder if he was playing the released 12" version - I seem to remember that having a very long intro?
  3. Added to which, where do you think "Vandellas" is derived from?
  4. And here's a pic of the whole of the Japanese LP sleeve:
  5. Are you thinking of "Messing With My Mind" as later recorded by Clarence Carter? IIRC Otis's version also got a 45 release on Echo.
  6. See you've not lost your sense of humour Remember when you regularly had what you described as an "awful" record called "Your Love" in your box with "current cover up" on the sleeve...(this being when Richard S was playing Mr Soul covered up, which of course has the chorus lyric "your love is slipping away")

  8. Exactly - if you remember, that's how the 4 Vandals was twigged - the fact that it was so "balanced" it was obviously multitrack which no minor label would have had access to in the 60s or even early 70s (for comparison, the "Sgt Pepper" album - for which the Beatles would have had access to the very best technology that was available in 1967 - was recorded on 4-track).
  9. Cor yeah, I paid less than that for my proper one
  10. This is mine - purchased from a JM drop down last year, only about £15: (No working scanner so I held it up to my webcam)
  11. Strange - I used to have it on Inferno 7" for years (the blue one with Sandy Wynns on the other side), and now have it on Champion, and when I had both I couldn't tell any difference between the two versions - unless you're thinking of the Inferno 12" re-edit (which also had the 7" version on), or for that matter if there's yet another release?
  12. At least 2 - Soul Satisfaction (the Decca/ABC/MCA group comp) and Wigan Casino Story - The Final Chapter (Goldmine)
  13. Trivia snippet - it used to be the station theme tune for the early London pirate Radio Jackie
  14. From this informative website on ITV history: Canal Plus Image UK Ltd Pinewood Studios Iver Buckinghamshire SL0 0NH

  16. As discussed in another thread - as luck would have it, the relevant tape was right at the top of the box
  17. I do - I've probably still got the tape you did for me with it on (my tapes are in a box in the attic, must get it sorted out sometime...and see if my tape deck still works )
  18. Possibly a marketing/recognition thing - hardly anyone has an original (obviously, it wouldn't be rare otherwise ) but a hell of a lot of people either still have or once had the boot and therefore the boot label will have a higher recognition value among the masses?
  19. Especially true now that things like drug and firearm enforcement have been handed over to Soca - so we can't even make sarcastic comments about how it's nice to know that problems therefrom have obviously been solved
  20. 'Twas also briefly in Kill Bill during one of the scenes
  21. As in this guy: One of my regular spins when I get the chance
  22. Just under 10 years ago now, walking past the New World pub (as it was then) in Worksop and...hey this sounds familiar....it's James Bounty - Prove Yourself A Lady! Wow, thinks me, I'll pop in here...turns out one of the regulars had brought a Northern tape in and in doing so had sparked my journey back onto the scene
  23. Well if you like it uptempo (with a bit of mid as well) get yourself to Clowne on the 31st (yes, I'm a shameless self promoter )
  24. Seconded, I recently received a record I ordered from him, condition was great too - it did take him a while and a few reminders tho', possibly he genuinely has just been having problems recently?
  25. I actually have one of these - got it in a bulk deal many years ago with a few other things, cost maybe three quid...not sure how well it'd go down on the dancefloor as it's kind of messy n'est-ce pas, tho' stranger things have happened
