  1. Funnily enough I just replaced my copy after many years, played the instrumental loud and thought "I'd love to hear that out - minus the cheesy intro of course!"...so it's in the big box!
  2. Same thing happened to me with my Soul issue of 6 by 6 - the one with silver print- snapped clean in half. Lucky it wasn't hard to replace!
  3. Certainly is, the scene wouldn't have got so far (and would be far more boring) without him! Get well soon Keith...I suppose a medicinal Pernod is out of the question?
  4. Want to call Mr. Pountain that, Michael? He's another who never went into M's! And Snooky, if you always stayed till the end of the 3B8, then it was YOU that the whole coach were waiting for...
  5. My feelings exactly at the time (as far as I can recall!!)
  6. I can't remember ever staying to the end of the 3B8 - probably the thought of the journey back to Chelt was intruding about 7.30...mind you I never once went into Mr. M's either!
  7. Emanons Orchestra - Bird walkin' on All Brothers...always reminds me of Brum Locarno All-dayers!

...thinking about it though, were DJ's orginally playing it from the 45 with "SAMB" on the flip, or had SS (if indeed it was him...) supplied them with early copies of the boot that he'd already pressed up? At this distance in time it's hard to remember, but I'm pretty sure the "top jocks" were playing the instrumental as well as the vocal?

Nope, it was booted WHEN it became big mate...
  10. ...not me though - totally missed that one, you learn something every day! Gave me a good laugh looking at some of those "originals" on the list as well!
  11. Very nice my son! OK, can anyone supply a scan of this '75 boot - Mick H reckons there were plenty around, so someone must have one!
  12. You and me both Pete - certainly never seen one down this neck of the woods!
  13. No Dave, Polydor had just started the Stax imprint as a separate entity at that time, so blue Stax only...
  14. The way I read it, it was more the fact that it was the studio recording, rather than the US single which used the live version...
  15. There's one of the Cats - a walk through thingy - on Youtube, but it doesn't seem the same with the place being empty and no condensation on the walls!
  16. Made me laugh but sooooo true - Danters Fair, Montpellier Gardens, Cheltenham, July 1965!!
  17. Just hazarding a guess - is that "Tastes sour" the same song as covered here by Keith Powell & Billie Davis on Piccadilly - the flip of "When you move you lose"? I'm at work so can't check the 45 for credits...
  18. If Mark enjoys himself half as much as I did when I played there last year, he'll be grinning from ear to ear! Awesome night - enjoy it mate!
  19. Some years back an acetate of what would have been the London issue which was part of Pirate ship Radio London's library went through ebay - can't find any record of it now sadly...
  20. Drove through Yate last friday, and picked out the venue - as you say, a strange feeling as I haven't been there since leaving my last niter there in 1982/3 - seems more of the car park is being built on for an extension to a Tesco store...but I could still look up at the old place and dream...it took a couple of pints of Bristol Beer Factory's finest product to bring me round!
  21. Glad it's finally coming together Dave, playing Anita later this morning and will drop it into the GFM mix tonight, have to slip the other Funk Factor track into tomorrow show as well...is it really that long ago you gave me the cd?
  22. Never seen that, and don't remember it either! I have a feeling it was an in-house promotion and nothing to do with any of the Niter promoters - anyone remember going?
