  1. Sorry! The one and Only! Try Condition Red for starters, Followed by Ton of Dynamite next would be Supertime and then Theyll be coming, Little Queenie, The Champion, Frantic escape and lots of other cracking instrumentals that would make anewie sit up and take notice!
  2. Sorry Mike AM I reading this right? Thought discussion /critcism was the very food of the threads or does this need to be clarified to an idiot like me! Cheers Steve
  3. Good price for the Wilson Williams -Adam Bought mine for £100 Beautiful laid back dancer. From the stunning LP. This is one of those records you need the issue to get the 45.
  4. Hi Dave the Original only has 6 tracks on it and doesnt have I was born to love you on it. Its mainly a funk album although one of the tracks is a bit discoey I dont know the soul brother release But it was also issued on another label which has 7 tracks on it and does include I was born to love you + the original 6 tracks The original first Lp is very rare and commands £300 Kind regards Steve P.S Dave Whats Warren Raye worth on London?
  5. Pete Iposted on the ebay community basically saying the same as here To date she hasnt sent the photos- Funny that from someone who wanted and immeadiate response!
  6. Forgot about that pete - Cheers I suppose she thinks that because the item was so cheap he wont risk his positive feedback just for £2.50
  7. I put it in a record mailer packed between the usual card and extra little bits because of the size of a cd- I charged her £1.50 for P&P and it cost £1.38 postage - I could have just sent it in ajiffy bag but because Ive loads of mailers I used them even though it makes it heavier. Its that she has already said she wont return gives me the supicion that shes pulling it!
  8. Ive put up a few Soul / House cds One of them was ST Germain - Tourist - Ive played only a few times because I was also given one as apresent so decided to sell the spare. I checked it before it went off infact I played it while I was packing all the other bits. Anyhow it reached the prize sum of 99p and £1.50 postage - I packed it in a record mailer and sent off Yesterday. Today I got this message: Hello, Item received today and I'm afraid to say I'm very disappointed with its condition, in fact appaled that you would try and sell something like this. I needn't have bothered trying to play it at all! In light of this I hope for you to replace the item free of charge or give me a full refund. I will not waste my own money posting it back to you, especially to see it probably appear back on here again. If you wish I can send photos to prove the condition. Please respond immediately as I will not hesitate to raise a dispute over this for the sheer principle alone. Yours sincerely, Joy I know we all make mistakes but I didnt on this one- I have taken up her offer of the photos and asked for a photo of the packaging as well. Ive asked her to send it back & Ill refund her total and all the postage. But as you can see she is not willing! What should I do -
  9. The Bain of my life this record- If I hadnt had it playing in the car I would never have met the ex psycho but their again would have never had my lovely little girl so I have two memories of this disc - Wigan as said and my car. Played it out once in last 6 years Not sure if I have an issue or demo- Is The demo the multi bell label or just the plain blue label with promo on it?
  10. Mel Turner - Singing in the rain - UA
  11. Year 2001 and Ive been back ointo northern for 2 years. I go to a big car boot sale near Inverurie where I pick up from a record dealers stall a few soul records. One of them was The multi-coulour Velvet Hammers -Happy- It had writing on it saying the name Richie Conn I had been to one soul night at the belmont as my reintroduction to venues- and had taken a couple of oldies to Which one of the organisers Mr Conn says "I see you've brought your mothers records with you"Ha HA Anyhow I go to the next soul night and Mr Conn AKA The gasher says to me "have you brought anymore of your mothers records with you- My answer was No But Ive brought one of yours instead! (The Velvet Hammer) Richie bursts out laughing and says he hadnt seen it for god knows how many years! Strange but true story
  12. Its utter crap- Poor lead vocal
  13. Totally original! And I think I know a little bit about the compass label having once collected all the releases issues & demos and their british counterparts! I still think you have to be careful though today with the technology available as new labels can be put on old bootlegs that make them look totally original and the stamps are easy to replicate!

I sold my Boot for £48 2 years ago and thought that the person got it wrong beliveing it was an original I dont see how this boot can be worth amyhting like £30 as its been reissued again which makes the 1st boot worthless in my opinion just like the Mel Brits from the 70s were commanding £30 until it was reissued again and the 70s boot price dropped dramatically - lenny Curtis being another one. Pages original should command a decent price - The 70s bootleg is worth very little in real terms How cam someone pay £150 for a boot when theyre are brilliant records originals at the same price. Would anyone play the boot out at a venue? and think its ok(acceptable vinyl to play) - If the answer is no! then the boot is worthless in this context IMO

  23. Ian I was in a rock band and I kept playing northern tracks to the other guys in the band and saying we should do rock versions and included Gloria Jones's Tainted love - Nope they said having never heard it before. and I was annoyed as I really thought it had potential and wanted to record it in the studio as we had been getting a few good reviews from a dj at Piccadilly radio in Manchester who came to watch us a few times and were due to go into strawberry studios to make a 4 track acetate. About 6 months later Soft cell hits and I get the weirdest look from my fellow band members! Ah what might have been!

I am sure during the 70s I went to a northern soul venue and lo and behold this was being played! Alma Cogan - Its you Can anyone verify that this was played at all The reason I ask this is when you were out fo the scene for 15 years their are records that you remeber in your head and then try to find when you return to the scene - This in my case was one of these. So was it played True or False
