Best Compilation Lp/cd Ever ?
Sorry I cant just pick one, Soul Class of 66, Up Town Down South, So Soulful 70s, Soulful Kinda Music / For Collectors Only, The Northern Soul Of L.A. Vol 2, simply because it had Troy Dodds and June Jackson on it... and the daddy of em all for me, Modern Soul Connoisseurs that one Richard Serling put together, cost a about a fiver when it came out, and what a track listing given the normal pit falls of licensing songs from various sources... in fact he mentioned on his show recently that this comp just happened, everything he asked for became available and out it came, sheers quality comp... Syl Johnson Track?
Heard it when it came out and it didn't really convince me then, Ive buy tons of House, but there are an awful lot of tracks out there that I think simply depend too much on the very good vocals/riffs they sample, Rodney's voice would sound the business on anything, Syls vocal the same, so its down to a very repetitive backing, which IMO goes on 3 mins too long, just looping it and colouring it with an overlaid vocal etc isn't enough... the piano break is nice though, but again far too short, they should have developed that part of the track allot more... fabulous track, remember either Shifty or Andy Rix playing it on Richard Serlings show before one of those big Ritz allnighters, Ive mentioned this before, but Richard Serling announced it as 'the Shaddows' with two 'D's', for ages I thought two 'D's' was a singer... doh!

60S Newies; Do People Want Them?
Do you mean Jeanette Jones - Cut loose, fabulous track, would I be right in thinking this was originally spun by Ian Clark on Acetate? seem to remember this being discussed ages ago.. I dont go to many soul do's, but add my name to the 'Hell yes, we want em!' camp... brilliant music, all of it... Mal:_)

Nancy Butts - I Get Lonely
Nope, but the release was always said to not have come out, or got released in the normal way, most if not all the copies in circulation came direct from the label owner, not via the retail route as it were, Pete S knows about this one more.... Mal
