What 45 Would You Make Into A
Carstairs was a groundbreaking tune - perhaps it being only just over 30 years old makes it toooooooooooooooo "modern" for some of you. 40 year old reggae tunes - pass me the blowtorch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What 45 Would You Make Into A
Can one enquire as to which makes the better ashtray? - styrene or vinyl? Any tips on temperature settings? Wouldn't them importy records have a big hole in the centre - rendering them useless for collecting cigarette ash. In fact as much use as a copy of Larry Trider at a quality soul night!!!!!!

Records That Shouldnt Have Been Played 1st Time
The northern scene for me always seems to choose poor quality 70s records to play. They still want to dance to that uptempo beat & pretend it is a sixties stomper. Better still if they can clap and singalong to the meaningless lyrics they can pretend it is actually a 60s tune. Examples listed below. "Under Your Powerful Love" - Joe Tex "Messin' With My Mind" - Clarence Carter Bad 70s records do not make good northern soul.

Dianne Steinnberg - Price Please
Philly Soul - Just Wonderful. In my opinion it was the "Motown" of the 70s. Pity the Northern scene has never really embraced it. They only play the third rate stuff such as "Janice","Night To Remember" or the totally dreadful "Party Time Man". Evidently white R&B from 1962 has more appeal than classy soul from the 1970s.

Dianne Steinnberg - Price Please
Yes I have seen the LP with it on stating that the single would set you back 800 quid. Methinks that's a wee bit tooooooooooooooooooooo much. Great choon though

Northern Scene
Our kids will have flogged off all those 7 inch bits of plastic because they won't work in their virtual reality hi tech world. Only tunes left will be on some old ipod from the year 2005 - "yea me dad had it on original mp3" wiill be discussed at your wake. I just hoping to have enough money to buy a food blender (no solids allowed) & a bit of spare change to stock up on incontinence pants & actually use talc the way it was intended.

Soulful House What Do You Think
I presume that most people on these forums have a northern soul background. Let's consider northern as opposed to soulful house. NORTHERN SOUL- Uptempo soul recorded generally on small, obscure labels in the mid sixties. SOULFUL HOUSE- Uptempo soul recorded generally on small, obscure labels in the past ten years. SPOT the difference? ABOUT 35 YEARS!!!!!! It is generally considered that the golden years of northern soul were 1972 - 1975. Therefore the records we danced to were not much more than 7 to 10 years old. Is Northern Soul the new rock & roll? All you collectors out there will be peddling soulful house in the year 2035 - the new Northern Soul!!!!
