Yes and honestly if someone did that to me I'm sure I'd take the boot off short. 100%. Even if it was the promotor. But it never happens to me....I normally seem to follow OV types.

Can't blame the sellers? Business is business? Oh right! Remind me to flood the market with some moody Chinese fake Ralph Lauren goods for Christmas....Bootleg is a bootleg whether it's a record or a handbag.

    Paracite.
  4. Def Paul Anka - shocking record
  5. Interesting, they did some releases in both 'speckled sick' colour and black and white for a while. The B&W's finished about 12250 ish, and the later ones were usually promos so the DJs could actually see the titles so a Patti Jo B&W would be quite nice.
  6. Great to see you back on radio Ivor.

Might just mean "radio play chart", very different from sales. Anyway welcome Greg...
  8. Must have been two people with large snipes I'd say.
  9. I agree with Dave, also think the T Town group are a later incarnation of the same group too. I read an article about them once. God knows where.
  10. Nice 45 when do you think he recorded it?
  11. I'm with you 100%. I deffo don't think it's a 60s recording as posted previously. I also have a niggling doubt as to whether it was actually put out as early as 73. The boot clearly shows a 90s font style - can anyone post a supposed "original" for us to 'paw over' with our magnifying glasses? It's one that I was never itnerested in owning but would like to see one, now that the cat is peeking out of the bag so to speak.
  12. I often wonder with records this fast whether they were running out of studio time or something....
  13. Steve Jeffries label?
  14. But it is accepted by many Dave; you can play it at many soul nights up and down the country and I am sure it'd fill the floor. Just not the brand of teabag that the rare soul crowd tastes.
  15. I agree there are plenty of sounds that are sparcely produced that sound great echoing around a hall. Put em on your home turntable / system, and they sound a bit limp.
  16. Roburt what makes you think it's a 60s recording?
  17. The late 90s the dark and murky days of "northern soul"
  18. I actually think it's an early 70s Albequerque release, rather than 60's. And I don't think it's a Detroit recording. Micky valvano also did the original of "For the first time in my life" from Albequerque on Jodi Pat as I recall (later done by the Contours as "We're a winner"). "Wake up" is pretty ok as a sunshine pop record, about as much relevance to soul music though as Bobby Goldsboro records had in the late 70s. Speaks volumes that it got played
  19. Looks to be getting a bit of momentum going now......
  20. Top 4 Tops impersonation there - always loved that side. No one else know the subsidiary label I'm talking about?
