  1. No but it's a great record, both sides. Probably the best suggestion yet.
  2. which label is the sound file I posted?
  3. I agree with you, records like Richard Marks is a bonus, a bloody good bonus but I don't think it gets the recognition that Wally gets even though it is much better, doesn't help that only really Andy Dyson playing it to a wider audience. Plenty of the stuff leaning to the funky side going down well and getting accepted by the dancers but still see plenty clear or thin the floor, probably the more out and out funky stuff.
  4. Richard marks is fookin brilliant, both the Tuska and Shout discs.
  5. Wally CoCo is an average record IMO but it is a great dancer and as said it fills the dance floors every time and that is what rules at the end of the day, the dance floor and the dancers. As for then years too late getting into the deep funk? It probably wasn't deemed good enough back then a lot of this type of stuff but with the 60's drying up or getting less frequent in coming through and DJ's seeking other avenues to compliment their play lists then some of the more funkier stuff simply a natural progression I guess. If the unknown 60's was still around and plentiful then the funkier type records probably wouldn't be given a second listen apart from the real quality.
  6. Thats always happened though hasn't it? Both legally and illegally. Jackie Beavers not really what you would call underplayed either is it? As long as you know what you are paying to listen to there shouldn't be a problem? You can avoid those who live by play anything rule.
  7. I like his description of VG...possibly? VG :Used record, possibly
  8. I've seen good copies too, probably more copies with damage mind.
  9. Topic here mate puzzling a few of us. At first I though it was to highlight other sales or a website but can't see either?
  10. There's a few tracks of hers in the Motown Singles collection. I was going to mention her but couldn't find a picture on line quick enough and couldn't remember her proper name Anyway cheers for the quiz, keeps quite a few of us amused for a couple of hours at least
  11. Bob Crewe connection at all?
  12. Personally I don't think either are soul and the Copper n Brass is even worse than Chicago......god knows how it ever got played considering the amount of decent music at the DJ's disposal back then.
  13. not at all. Do you have an answer to the question as well as an opinion that it is the better recording? Personally upon hearing I can see why it was canned, totally inferior to Jackie Beavers.
  14. Deffo original with a stamped "R" Rod.
  15. maybe , whatever, not a fact I agree with and I didn't ask which was the best version
  16. that's an opinion not an answer
  17. I don't know Richard, it would suggest it was recorded and at least scheduled for a release. I've never seen or heard of a Jackie Beavers take of IRFDAN.
  18. A good/vg- copy just finished on ebay at $450. https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=306&item=330512085428&nma=true&rt=nc&si=oopvQmS8%252FaDF%252BT9rdlcEdB0r9bs%253D
  19. The "In The Basement" interview is with Wislon Gary Gant, there throughout the groups history. I presume they would have run the discog by him? There is nothing from the group listed betweeen 1968 (Diamond) and 1973 (Silver Blue). Dave's site also has Herman Coefield in the line up. He joined around 1966 according to the interview replacing Roy Jolly who sang lead on all the DynoVoice material.
  20. Interesting one Ian. I've got the latest "In The Basement" at the side of me in which there is the story of the Invitations. No mention of it in the discography and I can't see any links from the credits on the disc to any members of the Invitations either.
