  1. When Loma/WB in the US issued "But Its Alright" in the late 60's it was backed with JJ's rather good instrumental version of the Temptations "Aint Too Proud To Beg" .... instead of "Do The Boogaloo". In Australia, "But Its Alright/Do The Boogaloo" was issued first on Festival in 1966 (extremely rare!) and then more commonly on Australian Warners Bros orangel label in 1969 as "But It's Alright/Aint Too Proud To Beg". Marcia Hines did a nice version on the same LP she released in Australia in 1975 which contained "You Gotta Let Go".
  2. Anyone help with this please ? Thanks.
  3. Yes, in addition to the Belles and the Olympics, there's a popcorn / instrumental thing I have on NZ Action by an artist that was originally on Mira in the US, so continuing the Mirwood / Mira connection. The artists name has slipped my mind but I should dig it out of the vaults and let you know ....
  4. Another equally hard to find release on NZ Action is the Olympics "Secret Agents / We Go Together"
  5. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/180909088627?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649 .... a VG minus copy just sold on ebay for $142.00 US. Is this getting a new lease of life in DJ's boxes at the moment ???
  6. Is the mix on this new 7" vinyl issue different from that which everyone is/has been familiar with up to now ? How many different mixes of the tune do in fact exist ... whether on vinyl, cd download or otherwise ?
  7. WHO WAS JERRY COOK "I HURT ON THE OTHER SIDE " ???
  8. WHO WAS JERRY COOK "I HURT ON THE OTHER SIDE " ???
  9. Taking film footage ?
  10. Anyone ? Thanks.
  11. Always thought to be an LP only cover version - all over the world - except for 3 known US copies according to this post on youtube .... One of only 3 known copies of this 45 that was released by EMI America in 1980. It also appeared on Dexys debut album 'Searching For The Young Soul Rebels'.
  12. Or Jamaican
  13. Anyone know if it is due to be released on 7" vinyl soon ?
  14. The Ace Fame box set is brilliant. In fact, the two lookalike 45s of the James Barnett (white demo) and Art Freeman (multi coloured issue) are so convincing that - if you neatly obscure the "distributed by Ace" type - they are a perfect substitute to use at an "original vinyl only" event to fool the Soul Police into thinking that you are actually playing the original 45s.
  15. Malibus "I Just cant Stand It" (Duke) ... appears in 3 of the above lists ... and often mentioned in recent times. Surely only a matter of time before this becomes in demand - really do think its a better record than their "Gee Baby I Love You".
  16. Here is a just released short video on the Australian rare soul scene and in particular focusing on the Australian National Northern Soul Weekender that took place in late 2011.
  17. To be precise, the Poets (later to become the Main Ingredient) was released twice on Red Bird.
  18. Marc, the 45 cut is a studio version, the live take is on the LP. (PS Bernhard Schmitz sends you greetings from Oz !!!)

The Will Chapron has been threatening to go big for over twenty years now - dealers regularly had it for 200-300 pounds but few takers, and few if any of the upper echelon DJs have ever really got behind it ... just one of those things ... but it may turn out to haunt some ....
  20. Only thing is that sleeve for PJ Proby is definitely not an Aussie sleeve !

  22. What is the market value of this ... at the present time ?
