  1. Hilarious clip ! saw it on yt a month or so ago . Honestly cant recall having any thoughts in the 70s about what was happening in the South .
  2. Thanks for posting the link , Very desirable , after reading the link , this must go to the top in terms of rarity , if it made over £400 in 2008 wonder what it is worth today ?
  3. This was a £1.00 record in the mid seventies ( thats how much I got mine for ) very common , after selling up in the early 80,s I started to attempt to re a quire some titles about a decade or so ago , at the time this was about £ 60.00 , as I had known it sell for so much cheaper , I declined thinking more would come along , They did of course but all more expensive than the last , yes around £150.00 , even £200.00 nowardays . (For the stock copy ) . Still only have a Stardust copy . My experience of this record coming up for sale is that there are far fewer demos than issues , and both the white soul demos sell for more than the issue .
  4. Remember you with that copy Rod , maybe late 75, early 76 , you were stood with it on Victoria Bridge in a pinstripe suit !
  5. An old friend of mine from Rochdale "Dave the shoe " sadly no longer with us , was a cobbler for over 50 years and always recommended " Loake" shoes , not cheap , but not as expensive as say" Church " shoes .. he reckoned that Loake were at least as good , maybe at just over half the price . Have yet to buy a pair as they look like the may need 2- 3 years to wear in properly , but maybe one day .. maybe £250 -£300 for a decent pair .
  6. Oh , Ok , I see what you are saying , Cant say I heard It either in the 70s or early 80s when I was out and about all the time , In do remember seeing it for sale in those days though , I used to think it was a before my time oldie ? would be interested to know wheter or not it got plays in the early seventies . Great record whatever .
  7. Hi Joe , Intrigued by your final comment , this is not in any way a criticism as we all have our views and see things differently ... for me , I have always seen this as one of the all time classic Northern records , I was wondering why you would not consider it "northern".
  8. Enjoyed the article , Great to see the picture of Vaughn with my old mate Barry (Big Eyes ) Robinson ,(R.I.P.) always the sharpest dressed guy around .
  9. Probably the only CD I have picked up since the first volume A Cool , low, dark soulful oldschool vibe currently permeating the house ... Perfect !
  10. Can confirm there were quite a few around in the 70s , At that point in time I had a complete run of the Ric Tic label and didnt consider Scotts on Swingers to be by any means the rarest , I got mine from Chris Savory( who had several mint copies ) for around 5 or 6 quid , also, at the same time from him Fantastic 4 Cant stop looking for my baby for £15.00, which was a lot at the time , but not many copies seemed to be about at that time .
  11. Third line from the end , I hear " I guess I HAVE my chance now , theres no time for CANCELLATION "
  12. Martha and the Vandellas " Love makes me do foolish things" /" Youve been in love too long "
  13. I Wouldnt mind that copy of The Admirations on SEXTON
  14. Really enjoyed the film, love the period sets ...if anyone is into late sixties early seventies New York( I am sure many on here are ) I would also recomend "The many saints of Newark " , The Sopranos prequel , plenty of 60s soul in the soundtrack too .
  15. Couple of years back , picked up The Orlons "Envy" U.S. Cameo, £ 2.50 , Buy it Now , Free Delivery !.
  16. Loved Amy Winehouse , for me , Back to Black is the best Album since the millenium .
  17. Depends entirely on the price , If a given items price is still attractive after the VAT and postage are added, then yes , The automatic VAT payment does make this less likely as we go forward .. maybe there will be a slight reduction in U.S. dealers pricing to reflect the fact that U.K. buyers are thinner on the ground than previously , but dont hold your breath ...
  18. Full size cinema posters for the film currently available (to buy ) on Ebay
  19. "The line dividing good and evil cuts through the heart of every human being" Alexander Solzhenitsyn.
  20. At least a dozen on there would not make my top 1000 . , All subjective of course , but for me , So, so much missing and even with only 100 to choose , so much filler .
  21. Ms playlist changed when the Twins started Dj ing in there , They seemed to go for Rare originals , many of which had recently stopped being played downstairs as the had been pressed , whereas before ,with Kenny Spence , Mike Rollo etc ,it was more about the kind of stuff on Banners playlist . Mike Rollo would always start with "Wade in the water" . lots of 50p records would shake the place to its foundations , one that always had that effect was The Bandwagon ," Breaking down the walls of heartache ". Loved the place , Another level .
