  2. Just had a rocksteady 45 arrive this morning from Japan , have had several over time , all been fine , usually take about a week to arrive , postage usually between 6 - 7 quid , can recommend Ninja Records for 60,s and 70s blubeat , ska, early reggae etc .
  3. "Without your love i cant go on ... its another day but the same old song "
  4. Was it one of those Belgian C.D s ? on the Marginal label ?, there were several motown volumes ,Think the above pictured C.D . was one of theirs .
  5. Looking for a copy of the above ,any label, ( min vg+ ) for sale , or can swap for northern/motown Thanks.
  6. How embarrasing ,hope the lads at work dont see them.
  7. Often wondered about this poster , i have a re print , your post convinces me it was in fact a real concert and not a mock up , thanks for posting .
  8. Well that is a 45 worth having , already have Loma vol 7 so i hope they are available separately (and i dont have the patience for queueing up)
  9. Hes 87 is he ? yes seems to have been around for ever , always enjoy his show on the odd times i catch it , last time i had him on he played Frances Nero , Keep on loving me . will have to make a point of tuning in more .
  10. Yes true almost impossible to get to the ones at the bottom , also knowing the lack of accessibility dictated the best would be down there, never seen records stored like that before or since ,as if someone had thought one record is the same as the rest and people would grab a few without even looking at the titles
  11. Swifty, wrote my above comment before reading your post , those seem the exact type of stuff that Tescos were selling , maybe other places were selling them as well, could it be that Delamere is a long gone chainstore maybe , or maybe the distributer . they may have just been the people who made the tags ?
  12. Yes Tescos , around 72 or 73 had wire bins full of thousands of 45s all for 10p each, mainly i remember these were full of the now very collectible pama offshoot label stuff , unity , camel etc bought quite a few at the time , two i remember were Return of Al Capone Peter Touch ( Tosh) on Unity and Creation I got the Fever on Stateside . I imagine different areas would of had different titles as it seems they had been sold job lots of deletions for next to nothing .
  13. Wigan 75 , Detroit Symphony , Sounded wonderful in the main hall , didnt realise the 45 was speeded up , did think it was a bit short, Also on early goldmine cd " The soul of Detroit "
  14. Just listened to it on the i player , not sure what to make of it to be honest , did enjoy it though , well worth a listen
  15. It seems a lot bigger nowardays , however its not the same thing at all .
  16. Motown , post Detroit ? we all have our own opinions , for me the golden era was 64 67, plenty of great stuff made after this time , i personally got into soul music through Motown around 1970 , buying the latest Supremes, Four Tops and Temptations releases , it wasnt till i aquired the greatest hits albums of the said artists a year or so later that i was absolutely captivated by what had gone before and the looking back to that golden era for me continues to this day . I appreciate the classic Stevie and Marvin albums of the early seventies , however for me it is the hundreds of magical singles produced in the mid sixties that was the high watermark.

Wasnt intended with any malice at all Tank top , its just that those type of covers were around at the same time as tank tops , ie an early to mid seventies thing , if you were offended , i apologise.
  18. Just took a look at some of the stuff on the face book page , plenty of pictures of the Supremes i have never seen before ,right up my street , love the social history side of things , Also a youtube? clip of Jimmy Mack My World is on fire , billed " the ultimate riot record " . Never thought about the record in that particular way before ,would be very interested to know if it was created with that intent? , was it crossing over the two topics ( in this case heady , passionate love and rioting ) like is done in Love Factory, Wash And Wear Love or Cashing In ? or was it just a coincidence that the disc was around just before the riots ? There has always been speculation that Dancing in the Streets was a clarion call to riot , never really accepted that view , very interesting nonetheless .
  19. That looks brilliant .

Whilst on the subject, I,m sure i read some years back that the white card covers (my personal preference) slowly emit chemicals used in the cardboard making process and these can damage records over time . as i have no conclusive proof that this is true i continue to use them as they have always seemed more aesthetically pleasing , almost like framing the disc. In the same article i think it praised the ever so slightly waxy olive green record sleeves , thicker than paper but not stiff enough to be considered card, that used to be so common in the states . Top of the pile as i recall were very fine quality paper inner sleeves ( to go inside the carboard ones) apparantly these are used a lot in Japan and can be purchased from there. As for the ones you are looking for , only a man named tank top would go that route ( only joking mate )
  21. This type of sound appeals more and more nowardays , love that Shirley Wahls track why am i crying ? never heard it before .
  22. four stages of life : lager, aga , saga, gaga.
  23. First time ive seen that clip, loved it .
  24. Dont remember the Post Office club nights , but I remember the Old Steam Brewery , I remember it as a Saturday night session , maybe there were two separate nights held there?
  25. I Have laughed at these classes in the past, however i,m not sure i like the idea of them happening in Manchester, we are better than that surely ....ah well long as they keep em Southside, not too much harm done i dont suppose.
