  11. Chalky I do travel a fair distance yes and some times rewarded. years gone by the Djs were fewer you knew who had what ,think I'll give up & conceed as it seam's I'm in the minority.
  12. I quite agree Kev and as I said I have seen it done, I'm not against Vinyl far from it but I dont see it as the be all & end all,my agument is that lots of fantastic tunes dont get played at venues soley because 99,9% of djs out there don't have them .which I think limts the northern soul scene and lets face it depended which venues you went to all those years ago, and the years you spent there.I just feel having different means of playing music gives the audiece and the Dj the means to share and experience of what fantasic music is and was out there.
  13. What a load a Djs doesn't no what the others are going to play and it depends on what time your spot is,which could mean a large percent of what you think you' play has already been played.don't get me wrong I've seen it done on some occasions but I've seen it fail on times many
  14. I just feel a box of vinyl limits you Evan the best Djs don't take there whole record collection with them they pick a few ,the amount of times I've asked for a record to be played and the reply was sorry I've left that one at home or I haven't got that ask one of the other Djs ,now I'me not saying I'm aginst vinyl because I'm not but I do think other forms of playing music could be used Go to soul events abroard no one moans about the music being played on Cd or MP3 I realise people have spent vast fortunes on there record collections and would not take it away from them but I do feel it limits what is played at soul events
  15. I know some of you may slate me for this,But I've been to one the good thing was if you requested a song he had the facility to down load it and play it which ment there was lots of choice I can't see why the two can't work together Richo
  16. picked this up yesterday on facebook hope he picks up. follow link Richo
  17. For me my introdution to northern soul was when my older mates had been to Wigan & came to the miners welfare wed's night bop1974 which where playing mainly motown & soul & top 20, they were dancing differently,I asked them about it and about the dancing, the following weekend they said they were off to sammanth's at sheffield so off I went totaly blew my away next time it was wigan again loved it became hooked 81/82 started courting strong married & sort of moved onto the new/wave stuff & fashion went to a few do's at Rotherham mid/back end 80s started to get back into northern late 90s. get a bit hacked off now & then with same old sameold but its far better than sitting in local at w/end's P.S hated punk era
