Whether to talc or not that is the question, personally my dancing shoes be virgins to the pavement, their soles match the shine of their uppers, it pains me at the end of a night to have to brush away the misted white from within their brouge’ish holes, this talc that falls like morning mist that leadeth me in darkened rooms with frosted footprints towards the sanctuary of the bar, akin the illuminated aeroplane aisle, for those that feel the need, especially those who one would be led to believe hold shares in Johnsons, that be their choice, but why before taking to the floor, testing the water, do some insist that on the perfect surface the powdered rain must fall making a treacherous passage for those such as I , regretfully I must confess my betrothed to be of the talc loving fraternity , therefore I fall betwixt the two, sometimes there be a need for a light dusting, all too often the purveyor of said talc has the touch of a blacksmith and yay rises a mushroom cloud that settles in the throats of all in the fallout area, so in answer to your question, to talc or not, my preference would be that 99% of the time the white stuff be left to the bottoms of babes, the red chaffing thighs of the overweight , and the arm pits of the sweaty.

Here goes nothing......... Personal Heaven Underground in the Catacombs they gather as one, stood before the altar they applaud the high priest, with open ears they listen to the scriptures, it’s their religion, some would claim it to be a way of life, a ritual clap at a given point signals togetherness, they will be forever young, the faithful, somewhere far distant the high priests search out scriptures new, unwittingly they and others like them reap the bible, the Holy Grail, the Book of Kev, time passes, adulthood takes it’s toll, some fall by the wayside to procreate, find pastures new, the faithful carry the torch in their hearts, lighting the underground, gathering in smaller numbers once more a mystery, an enigma to the masses. Years roll by, children grow , the fallen return, seeing a lifeline, a memory, a chance to recapture a time passed, priests spring out of the woodwork, altars become numerous, clothed in old vestments weekends are spent in mass worship where scriptures from the book of Kev are oft repeated..... elsewhere in the dead of night the faithful respect yet bury the past , in darkened rooms dancing to a different tune, one religion, two faiths reading from different books, one open one closed, time passes by slowly, unnoticed scriptures from the new religion slip between the pages of the Book of Kev, gain acceptance on the floor of God where all who worship find their own place, their own personal Heaven.

You mean when Searling or whoever would play something NEW to you, a time when there was no top 500, it was just great music, exciting, like remembering the first time you heard what was to become your all time favourite , where you can remember the time, the place, who you were with, that kind of thing? . Each To their own and I have no axe to grind with your views so I'm not being argumentative but if you really want to live a semblance of your youth open your ears, sure there is plenty of what some would term crap played on the scene but there is also a plethora of magnificent music you are missing out on. If you don't want to listen to it played at an event at least look at the playlists on here and check some stuff out on YouTube. We all love the music , no need for the divide......but then I've always been a dreamer

and end up in the East Riding of Yorkshire in the Land of Nod
  6. I tend not to listen to dedicated stations, regularly listen to the already mentioned Dean Anderson, the guests are always great with many interesting insights into how they came about the records they play, often good stories regarding artists etc, Derek Pearson on BCB radio always puts on a good show highly recommended but maybe not what you're looking for regarding 70's and Philly.
  7. Love that one ,great tune
  8. Not the greatest record the only coloured one I have
  9. I personally think that's true of an awful lot of rare records, when I look at Manship's auctions and check out some of the tunes that go beyond ÂŁ500 that I don't know I'm rarely impressed.
  10. Ginger is one of the dj's I was talking about, he has played it each time he's Dj'ed at an event I go to and virtually no one danced, what fills the floor at one place isn't guaranteed to do it elsewhere, it was played last night at the Carlton Club, one person danced.
  11. I was just warned not to post something similar by she who must be listened to
  12. I guess it depends on the type of event you attend, the ones I go to don't always reflect my current tastes but from what I see anything that has been played to death for the last forty years still fills the floor even as was the case recently at an event I was at it gets played twice in a night, same people dancing to a record they danced to an hour ago, I've heard Papa Bear and the Cubs played a few times recently with sadly no reaction on the dancefloor but kudos to the Dj's concerned for plugging away and trying.
  13. My five from last night, bit of a mixed bag, ears are ringing this morning, someone pumped up the volume 1 My Back Scratcher Frank Frost 2 Open the Door Gloria Lynne 3 Your Song Laura Lee 4 Evil Ways Johnny Mathis 5 Open Up Your Heart Ishola Mohammed
  14. Nice track, new to me, nice list
  15. Some good tunes hidden on those cheap MFP and Starline albums, my mate doing his weekly Charity shop search looking through the usual fare of Klaus Wunderlich, Jim Reeves etc turned up a Sammy Davis Jr album he was just about to discard it when he noticed one of the tracks was Being Natural.
  16. Another I've had for as long as I can remember and one that was left in the airing cupboard dusty and unloved until recently, changing tastes and all that quite like it now .
  17. Dug this out yesterday, nice clip too
  18. Cheers Martyn just bought one
  19. . I've been trying to catch this moment for ages but by the time I get the camera out and get outside the moment has gone, Windmill on moor opposite my house, it's great when it's misty and they disappear altogether, I have a love hate relationship with them, when they put them up they assured us we would not see any, this was the first one they put up. Suddenly found myself one night at sunset taking pictures of the bloody things s the sun on the opposite side of the valley setting gave them a pink hue, never really managed to catch that colour either...
  20. Sunrise opposite my house, any tips Martyn, is it the same rule you mentioned for sunsets I've taken quite a few but they always end up quite dark like this one
  21. Snap to that, no pun intended,
  22. I would not have known but I'll go by the Yanks answer on the thread which seems to indicate no.
