  1. I think there was a thread about this some time ago and a few members were trying to collect all the cities, it's in the back of my mind the total was nearer seventeen but I could well be wrong on that. Edit- I am wrong.
  2. That took me back to a time and place, I'd forgotten all about that track, thanks for the memories!
  3. Merry Christmas to everyone, thanks to Mike and the team for all the hard work not forgetting all the regular contributors to long running threads who brighten many a dull day, the Show us Your Great photos guys and gals, the Record Club boys and the Podcasters and Playlister's all much appreciated, Have a great day my all your wishes large and small come true.
  4. Appreciated here too, often a treasure trove of tunes new to me.
  5. Full story here from the man himself... https://youtu.be/fNP7B2sj5kQ
  6. Video here of the Chants with Eddie Amoo https://www.peoples-stories.com/story.php?i=VQGN4QEPMC
  7. I put a search in on the site but nothing came up so sorry if it has been mentioned before , 1/2 hour programme about the making of some of Aretha's 80's videos, more her disco type stuff but interesting none the less, I found one of the blokes who talks about Aretha quite irritating but still worth a watch. It's on Sky Arts Catch Up and probably elsewhere It's a series called Videodrome.
  8. With the current prices people are paying and some sellers being economical with the truth can we expect to see it on EBay after a meeting with a tube of superglue stated as "with slight crack but plays fine"
  9. Just done a check back on events and you are spot on, in my defence there were a number of Scottish flags displayed and the music was pretty loud, I'll have to tell my mate as we have both recalled the night saying what a brilliant set the Scottish lad played. Cheers
  10. Getting engaged to the wonderful Lou in March, Seeing John Cooper Clarke in Manchester The return of Northern Soul to Ramsbottom courtesy of Diamond Des Jones Having my Grandson of fourteen months living at my house(with his parents of course) while I have been off sick and seeing him develop week on week. While off sick (I still am, going on eight months) finding how supportive workmates, old friends ,people off the scene have been, it's been a very humbling experience. Scottish DJ guesting at Farnworth Cricket Club, fabulous set, sorry can't remember your name, dj at Pershore early doors another fabulous set likewise sorry no name but I think he was one of the resident Dj's.
  11. As Frankie says thanks for taking the time to post, be sad to see it end. Merry Christmas to you!
  12. New to me what a great tune, cheers,
  13. I've bought very little for many years and as my taste has changed what I'd like to play now I don't own so I'm left with what I've got after selling plenty over that period, so mine would have to go like this. Joe Tex You'd Better Believe it Undisputed Truth You Got the Love I Need James Brown Hey America inst. Linda Jones Can't Stop Lovin'My Baby Emotions Stealing Love Lack of Afro Recipe for Love Johnny Moore You fixed It The Nite -Liters Cherish Every Precious Moment Dynamites Still Can't get You Out of My Heart Lorraine Ellison I've Got My Baby Back Inez and Charlie Foxx Baby Drop a Dime Lenis Guess Workin for My Baby Brooks and Jerry I Got What It Takes Metros Time Changes Things Connie Francis it's Gonna Take Me Some Time and that folks is why I never make a Dj
  14. If you are unsure have you considered a temporary halfway house that could help you decide and could also find the right dog for you, my local animal sanctuary is always on the lookout for dog walkers, if there was one near you I'm sure they would be more than happy with an extra volunteer .On the plus side you'd get interaction with different dogs maybe bonding with one particular dog which you could end up giving a home to. You may also find having a dog isn't for you saving you the heartache of finding out too late after you have gone and bought a dog.
  15. Now you've thrown that thought into the mix I'll have to stick with Johnny Moore You Fixed it For Me, either that or suffer the wrath of she who must be listened to
  16. That's the phrase I was searching for in my post Robb, well put Sir!!
  17. That's a great question a bit like name your top three, what would be there one day could be gone the next, I've been giving it some thought since you first posted and still haven't come up with an answer. I do know it would be down to gut instinct as I held each record in my hand slowly whittling the pile down , I can see in my minds eye piles of records in line gradually reducing, keep to the right, sell to the left. There's now tunes spinning in my head, Gladys Knight Just Walk in Shoes, memories of a magic night in Manchester early seventies, Look What You Done to My Heart rescued from the tip by my mates Dad who was a dustman, Moody Woman ,Little Misunderstanding, Brooks and Jerry being lifted out of a brown box in Ralphs Records aghhhh..... I've gotta stop thinking about it

Found it on Popsike Vance, not a site I've looked at before, sixty quid in 2011 so must be a small profit there somewhere.

Just about to leave a charity shop last week after wading through for the second time last weekend a raft of Jim Reeves and James Last albums the woman behind the counter placed a bag in front of me saying "noticed you looking through the records have a look at these they've just come in", I reached in with the first lot out being some 78's, hoping someone on here might be of help as the first one was Sam Cooke Only Sixteen in as someone quotes " it's birth sleeve". I've asked a few people and looked on the net without luck ,don't know if it's collectable or worth sod all, anyone any idea? Rest of the bag was.........yes more flippin Jim Reeves and James Last.
  20. Always loved this one, thanks for posting , I can't recall ever hearing it in the last few years at least.
  21. Hey no apologies needed great that you take the time to post the results and much appreciated.
  22. Which in far fewer words is what I was clumsily trying to say
  23. I think you make a very valid point going off my own experience. I have never really been aware of record prices until I joined this site, my knowledge has increased thanks to the guys on here though I'm largely still in the dark as to what most of my remaining collection is actually worth, not much I suspect mostly in the £5 to twenty quid bracket I would guess. I suppose a few years ago I could have gone on various sites and checked current prices but as we know today that probably would not be a good guide to follow. A couple of examples to illustrate my point, after hearing on YouTube a Johnny Taylor I quite liked I looked on Ebay to see how much it goes for, turns out it was the b side to Disco Lady, having that on the shelf under the stairs I dug it out along with about fifteen others that I thought I'd check out the B sides plus a few A sides too. One of the records I checked out on You tube was by the Delfonics which from memory I thought was going to be uptempo but turned out to be one of their ballads, when I saw the post was one of Manships I thought well it must have some worth which turned out to be £15 quid four years ago. I'd have happily sold it for a quid if asked, whether Manship got £15 quid or not is by the by, my point being I placed no value at all on it .Another I dug out was Spaceark Do What You Can Do, not a tune I particularly care for, don't know where it came from so out of interest looked it up on Discogs. Were it not for the knowledge I've gained on here regarding the current unrealistic high prices I'd have been a happy man, I would have looked no further than the one that is for sale with an asking price 5p short of £100, being a tad wiser I clicked on the one for sale to find a low price of £30 and a high of £70., again personal taste without checking I'd have been happy to get a tenner for it never mind the £30 low. Further to illustrate your point my second thought was it legit or a pressing, if it had been one of my kids hoping my records were worth a fortune they would have been unaware of pressings so maybe would have just slapped everything of ebay as originals. A case of a little knowledge being a dangerous thing as they say. I think you are right in what you say that there are lots of people out there sitting on collections, not necessarily large collections totally unaware of the value of what they have stored in the loft Back in the seventies I had several mates who were into "soul music" who bought much the same as me, I know for a fact the majority of them lost interest in the music but for whatever reason didn't want to sell their records. I haven't seen some of those mates since those days but I wouldn't mind betting they held on to the records for sentimental reasons if nothing else.
  24. Great memories, saw Graham Central Station in Manchester on the Warner Bros showcase tour that included Tower of Power and the Doobie Bros, last minute decision to go to the first night got free tickets from Warner Bros outside the Free Trade Hall, five rows from the front, Cheers for posting
  25. Possibly the wrong forum, just came across this on YouTube, not sure how well known it is probably well known but it made me smile, mods feel free to remove if deemed unsuitble https://youtu.be/iA64mhwfoZc
