Mikki Farrow On Flea Bay
He told me he'd "had it since the sixties"..... but have had ok dealings with him so would def give him the benefit of the doubt (but then didn't bid!)

Dealers Dodgy Packaging
Bought a copy of Willie & Mighty Magnificents "Check it baby" described as NM, came in a huge box wrapped in bubble wrap, all good so far, but the 45 inside all of that was both ridiculously warped and had a deep cigarette burn literally in the playing surface - what made it classic is the seller then claimed "it must have happened en route"!! Um, nice try mate, luckily for me they did refund and needless to say promptly saw them relist it as NM, some people...

Melba Moore - Magic Touch
No one on this or the other thread seems to have mentioned a 3rd version, a blue-eyed cut by the Triangle, Italian only 6T's release in a picture sleeve

Spontains is great, play it out a lot, Lew had a copy up about a week ago, put in a bid to pick up as a spare if everyone was asleep, still went way cheaper than should

Greek 45s
Know you're talking more about Greek issues of soul 45's but have tons of Greek originals, lots sung in English by Greek groups, mostly not soul - lots of beat, especially organ-based "shake" sound - but one that does bear mention here is Tammy's version of Johnny Taylor's "Who's making love", insane and great at the same time

Ricky Rezell: What You Bet/little Willie Joe
Saw couple of copies of this at Allentown last week at $300 that didn't sell
-
Maurci Label
I have a one-sided "I wouldn't believe' and have been playing it out here for a decade+, totally best thing on the label. Also have the instrumental version by the Tri-Ems (Maurci 111) but it's really blah unfortunately.

Carrie Cleveland On Jm
Also heard how Carrie herself hated (and still hates) the first version so re-recorded it with that terrible organ sound. For ages you could walk into Groove Merchant in San Francisco and take your pick of 45 (a boxful!) or lp (really nice picture of her on the sleeve of the lp), she still lives nearby too, picked one up first time saw it but flipped it pretty quickly as not really into it, laughing seeing it described as being that rare but guess you had to get one of that batch, happens.

How Did It Get There?
Flew from here in NYC over to Paris, was digging in the Clignacourt flea market and found a 1968 mailer from NYC - actually less than a mile from where I live - sent 40 years earlier with an unplayed copy of Chalklit Milk Revue - Forever Bliss on Mr G and a letter from the record co promoting the 45. Not as weird to me as finding an Argentine cover version of Francine Carr's "Papa's New Bag ain't nothing but a hag" on Youngstown in an old store in Buenos Aires

American Area Telephone Codes 1960s
I grew up in England (and still remember my first telephone # too, Denham 3325) and somehow ended up running a phone co here in the States. Itused to be a big deal here having #'s that, using the old phone keys, "spelled" a name, was a great marketing tool for companies wanting to have customers mnenomically remember their #'s, now every one has cellphones that one's pretty much died a death, even most of our employees are too young to remember half of this. Can assure you if started listing a fraction of the weird rules of telephone billing in the wake of the Baby Bell deregulation this would be one long (and astoundingly boring) thread

How Many Copies Known?
<<>> I have one - as does Tim Brown. Also have an Alice Rouzier & Little Joe on the same label here, suspect this is just as hard.

How Many Copies Known?
"Klicky Robinson" Great one on Mode, but how about the Fabulettes on the same label, girl trio with - I think - Klicky on lead for one of the verses

El Paso Drifters - Could This Be Love
I know where just one other is, but that one's not changing hands for sure, not a "known" sound in the least so if you ever find one am sure it'll be cheap, but a few people who've heard it through me have had a fair stab at trying to find another without any luck so far....
-
El Paso Drifters - Could This Be Love
They were originally called the Drifters, changed their name when the Atlantic group got known, other 45 have by them isn't a patch on CTBL, that bass-driven breakdown in the middle is ridiculous, hadn't played it for yonks but just pulled out the back of the stacks to play out at our Mighty Hannibal show this Sat, and don't worry T, it's coming over to Italy in a few months
