Mick summarises last nights Ashton Ukranian soiree with elequence! I can only add that I thoroughly enjoyed the superb music which once again hit the heights from start to finish, whilst the company as always was top quality! One word to sum up the Ashton Ukranian experience.......Awesome!

Very Much Looking forward to another Superb night at the Mighty Ukranian Club......

Yesterday evening turned out to be a Very Good Friday, particularly musically from the start with Natalies thoughtful opening set, and guests John Pugh, Mick Howard, and Jason Arnold all adding to yet another wonderful Wolfies playlist that was well recieved by the loyal regulars, and travellers alike! Great night....Great company and Great musical ethos.....

Indeed it is Vee Vee Allen, I have both of her 45's on the Movement label, the other being "I'm your fool", and both IMHO very good Detroit produced tracks!

I would like to add my tuppenceworth to last nights Wolfies soiree! Credit to Natalie for the continuity of a Great Venue, that has a superb musical ethos, and a great lineup last night who fulfilled a brilliant playlist from start to finish and albeit it was my first visit last night, it certainly won't be my last.....! I for one thoroughly enjoy visiting venues that raise the bar on an actual playlist that presents both a different perspective other than the same old, same old, and DJ's who think "outside the box"....Last night proved such a case, and all 4 played blinding sets....Whilst outside issues lowered the crowd to a degree, from 8 until 12, " I was in my oils", and was absolutely buzzing, having enjoyed myself somewhat.....Keep up the Great Work Natalie, you are a credit to the Soul Fraternity!

I have bitten my lip with regard to commenting on said half price sale, but personally, have been very disappointed overall !Having after several weeks being refunded from a discogs sale, I rang with regards to a site sale after several more weeks regarding another item I'd noticed had been re-advertised, hence was re-assured it was to be posted forthwith.....Alas received a refund within days to my disappointment......Annoyed.....You Bet!

  11. RIP Sir......
  12. We used to do the Locarno, via the Yate all-nighter and stop off at home in Newport ( for a couple of hours,) then get the train up to Birmingham on several occasions in 1978. I only remember one room being open, but recall one occasion when a Jazz-Funk set was played by one of the Dj's (can't remember who) and there was a protest by the "Northern Soul" attendees who sat down on the dancefloor.....
  13. I also recall, Spencer Davis-Give me some lovin at Whitchurch all -dayers mid 70's.
  14. I remember Mr Thorley playing that......

Running out of Likes, I'm afraid, but after a few barren months, am thrilled to say, that I am so looking forward to the" Mighty Ukranian Club" once again where the Musical Ethos, and "Fantastically Loyal Attendees", make this night much more than ordinary.....Can't Wait !
  18. Always admired Mr. Dobsons output over the years, including the 100 club, and Lifeline, as two examples, the guy still keeps coming up with exceptional unknowns, as experienced at The superb Ukranian Club in Ashton under Lyme in greater Manchester, back in May of this year.....Whilst the output numberswise diminishes in content.....The Man is still on top of his game....!
  19. Great Track.....Irrespective👍
  20. I must say, the thread in totality is awe inspiring, and one I selfishly don't want to end....superb knowledge, and very much appreciated👍
  21. Whilst on topic of Detroit recording studios, I was going through several (orange) Volt records at home today, and came across Pac 3 studios and a 1972 release by Hot Sauce-Bring it on home (and give it to me), (a nice crossover tune) which threw me once again as it wasn't a Don Davis Groovesville production as a lot of the said Volt 45's were, and whilst I appreciate that several of his productions were probably Detroit/Memphis hybrids, so therefore was wondering what the link was with this particular release and Pac 3 .......?
  22. That is what you call Knowledge.....!
  23. As a former Fanzine collector, Daves' were up there with the best, and his sense of humour was infectious! Knowing that I lived with my Grandparents whilst I was serving my apprenticeship, he used to send each issue in an A4 brown envelope, adorned in cuttings of current pin-up models.....He was a stand-up comedian before he sadly lost his battle with illness. Such a great character , and another taken too soon!
