  1. Great Track.....Irrespective👍
  2. I must say, the thread in totality is awe inspiring, and one I selfishly don't want to end....superb knowledge, and very much appreciated👍
  3. Whilst on topic of Detroit recording studios, I was going through several (orange) Volt records at home today, and came across Pac 3 studios and a 1972 release by Hot Sauce-Bring it on home (and give it to me), (a nice crossover tune) which threw me once again as it wasn't a Don Davis Groovesville production as a lot of the said Volt 45's were, and whilst I appreciate that several of his productions were probably Detroit/Memphis hybrids, so therefore was wondering what the link was with this particular release and Pac 3 .......?
  4. That is what you call Knowledge.....!
  5. As a former Fanzine collector, Daves' were up there with the best, and his sense of humour was infectious! Knowing that I lived with my Grandparents whilst I was serving my apprenticeship, he used to send each issue in an A4 brown envelope, adorned in cuttings of current pin-up models.....He was a stand-up comedian before he sadly lost his battle with illness. Such a great character , and another taken too soon!
  6. Please PM only, if you have a Decent condition copy of the above 45 for sale, stating condition and cost....Thanks
  7. Very Saddened to hear, R.I.P Pat'.....
  8. Get Well Soon Mark....
  9. Whilst slightly adrift of the topic title, could anyone kindly give any information with regard to my previous Don Davis question please???
  10. I'd be very interested to learn more about the Don Davis material and moreover which of his tracks were recorded where, and furthermore the 1969 Stax project (Boy meets Girl), as this again is a topic that intrigues me, particularly from a collecting perspective. I was under the impression that the Stax/Volt material under the Groovesville "repertoire" was for example recorded at United Sound, but would like any information to either confirm this or otherwise? Similarly those Stax/Volt releases also recorded at Terra Shirma?
  11. Interesting article Roburt, it totally enhances the mystery attached to the unknown output from Golden World, and furthermore the probabilities that other labels particularly from the Detroit area suffered similar fate during the same era. With regard to your last paragraph, I suppose the knowlege of stated circumstances, relating to the actual recordings that didn't make the cut are lost forever......unless of course?
  12. Total respect for Rod Dearlove, whom again I haven't heard about for a number of years, and must add that his knowlege and insight with regard the "upfront" music at the time was second to none IMHO, the magazine Voices from the shadows was also a superb example of up to the minute Soulful Journalism, and when he ran the Canal Tavern in Thorne, I was lucky enough to have been in attendance.....Great Times.....
  13. Many accurate responses to last nights Ashton Ukranian Club, and moreover witnessed by quite a few travelling attendees, who once again were part of a tremendous evening of music nicely summarised in a conversation between Ste Smith and Tim Ashibende, last night....."Right Venue, Right Music, Right People".....Totally sums it up for me, and makes it well worth the effort in getting there as often as possible.....
  14. Can't Wait for yet another M5/6 excursion....Well worth the effort for another guaranteed, awesome Soulful experience !
  15. No not that one....It's on Youtube, and it's 'I can't stop this feeling'
  16. I have it on a Phillipino Motown 45, but along with several other Phillipino releases, the basic sound quality is not the best!
  17. Unless I've missed this somehow, possibly one of the best Temptations unreleased 45's IMHO- Hey Girl (I believe from the Cloud Nine LP ....Awesome and unreleased track as far as I'm aware)) and not the Hey Girl I like your style 45-Gordy 7131... And an Anomoly in so much as it was identified as the Contours, but an unreleased track called "I can't stop the feeling"??? I'd love to know who the artist(e)(s) are?
  18. As am I, Whilst not anti Reggae by any stretch of the imagination...It's a definite NO from me!
  19. My first owned vehicle, was as I recall a mini-van around 1975, having failed my first driving test, an apprentice who worked with me at the time in British Steel, drove my van Wigan Bound, that gave up on us on the M6 North, and was towed to the services, where we all spent the night sleeping uncomfortabally until hitching a lift back to South Wales the following day! Van recovered and towed back by his local Milkman, whereby I purchased a replacement 2nd hand engine, to add to the ÂŁ108 I'd paid for the van at the outset....The furthest it travelled after that was Yate....a few times before it was sold to the local technical college, for whatever....for ÂŁ20 as an MOT failure......
  20. Whilst already owning the Jimmy Delphs version of "Almost" on US Karen, heard the Betty Lavette version at a recent Ashton Ukranian club played by Luci Jones, and it sounded superb.....Happily recently acquired from Zanetti on here... Thanx to both!
  21. Wanted, preferably White Demo EX, but also issue considered in at least EX condition at fixed price (No offers) PLEASE PM REPLIES ONLY.....THANX.....wilxy
  22. My second visit to this wonderful venue, and totally honoured to play a few tunes, to such a knowlegeable crowd, whilst once again catching up with a few of the BVAN community..... Look forward to yet another visit in due course....Well worth the motorway mileage!
  23. I thoroughly enjoyed my previous visit to the Superb Ashton Ukranian club, which was full of Friendly, Knowlegeable Soul People, whom I can't wait to be amidst once again on March 16th......
  24. There is then the anomoly of items unreleased in the USA, but actually released in "Foreign Climes" including the UK. Usually a track included on an LP, but not as a 7" release Stateside, yet made the cut elsewhere, just to add to the interest of Motown collectors........
