  1. I am also a fan of Clarence Reid. I enjoyed the Miami Soul movie which included himself, his mate Willie Clarke and others. For those who never saw the film Clarence is featured regularly.. A larger than life Soul Man, Comedian and Blowfly star. https://numerogroup.com/products/eccentric-soul-the-deep-city-label?variant=40259461742790
  2. Frances Nero won a contest in the Fox Theater. The prize was a recording contract at Motown Studios. When she finally got to the studio she was surprised to find that most of the recording was already in place. All she had to do was add her lead vocals to the Originals backing vocals and the band track. I don’t know where “Fight Fire With Fire” fitted in but she told me that her contribution to “Keep On Loving Me” lasted “ten minutes”. Detroit 2002.
  3. Baby Reconsider by Leon Haywood on Soul Sounds.

I recall Brian from my visits to Manchester in 1970. He was always wearing a black crombie and carrying a suitcase of records within the Twisted Wheel club. I remember him dancing in the alcove near the deejay cage with his mates. Never a year has gone by without me thinking of him. Brian thanks for those memories. RIP David

    RIP Sly Stone.
  6. Soul Master Edwin Starr
  7. 24 hours Edwin Starr
  8. This one is bit of an enigma for me. Trying to find out if it was released or not is difficult. Perhaps it was a foreign release. Any info would be appreciated. https://youtu.be/XOaj4Z82e-8?si=uPfMddoiyVlttG7r
  9. “Everlasting Love” is a great song as are others in his CV. RIP Mac Gayden
  10. I only saw Ted on youttube deejaying in his back room. A man dedicated to Northern Soul. I also hope that the runts who stole part of his collection get what’s due to them. RIP Ted
  11. The internet has certainly fuelled the epidemic. Some of the prices I see are beyond loopy. Anyway.
  12. Thanks Ken. Can’t find my card, but it’s somewhere. Thought it was before 1975 when I was there but memory is gone.
  13. That’s the one, right next to the pleasure beach.
  14. Can’t answer your question but can add to your list. Blackpool Casino. I remember it as quite a big venue with a deejay on a stage playing what became known as Northern Soul. Outside was a helter-skelter which is still there. Unless memory has slipped. I still have the membership card if anyone wants to see it.
  15. Paul Riser, Homer Banks, Carl Hampton. No wonder this is a great song. RIP Randy Brown.
  16. Roberta recorded two great ballads which went mainstream. RIP.
  17. Jerry Butler RIP
  18. Eddie Is there a cd version?
  19. This is how I remember it. Prior to 18th September 1965 it was at Brazennose Street. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twisted_Wheel_Club
  20. “I Thank You” was one of my first introductions to Soul Music. Sam and Dave Prater left a catalogue of songs which can only described as essential. Their “Soothe Me” was the penultimate song played by Pete Roberts in the revitalised Twisted Wheel building before it was demolished. Sam Moore RIP.
  21. This obituary appeared in the Los Angeles Times. https://www.legacy.com/us/obituaries/latimes/name/william-jackson-obituary?id=53117239 Is he the June Jackson who recorded on Musette Records? ”You’re Welcome”
  22. Don’t give up on it. Geeselad. You will love it as much as I do. Northern Soul, Deep soul, Beat Ballads. The Rocketeers, Paul Kelly, Little Beaver, The Moovers. Collectors such as Jeff Lemlich and Ken Shipley. Not to mention Henry Stone.
  23. One of my favourite Soul documentaries featuring Clarke, Reid, Pearsall and Hoss. Plus artists Helene Smith and Betty Wright and others. Great stuff from Eccentric Soul.
