  1. Well done Andy. Major thanks to Eddie for sharing his memories. RIP Eddie.
  2. True. Keith Rylatt me about Tom Creedon.
  3. I’ve got the two pre-Motown 45’s on Dynamo/Steeltown and must admit to being very surprised at their quality. It’s not often that I miss credits on 45’s but I had no idea that “Gordon Keith” was involved. 45’s came in one John Anderson’ Soul Packs in early 70’s.
  4. “One Gold Piece” will always be in my top 10. A sensational song.
  5. If you haven’t seen it, an essential insight to West Coast music. Loved it.
  6. As discussed recently on here, Mable John at Shrine.
  7. It was great to hear Sidney’s interview without interruptions. I look forward to Eddie’s interview. Well done Andy.
  8. RIP Greg Perry
  9. Hi Joel The 45 was one of my first soul music purchases. Circa 1968. When I heard the flipside I couldn’t believe how good it was. I was a disc jockey in Glasgow for two years and I played it many times. I had about ten close friends who all loved it too. Unfortunately Glasgow was moving on to a different sound by 1969 so I am not the best to tell you how it went down in the clubs as we were a very large minority. When I discovered the fledgling Northern Soul scene in Manchester in 1970 it was a pleasure to see that soul music was still popular for much the youth of that time. There are others on this thread who are much more qualified to comment on your question but I certainly never heard it on radio as the UK was barren for soul music back then. England is the home of the home of the Northern Soul scene. It must have been played there in some of the clubs which emerged as the scene became a force in later years. David
  10. Pity that “What Can A Man Do” never got a mention. One of the truly great “B” sides. Good story nevertheless.
  11. A vocal powerhouse. RIP Chuck Jackson.
  12. I wrote this twenty years ago, no doubt it’s well out of date. Press “menu” then “new outlets”. https://soulfuldetroit.com/web07-golden world/golden world story/index.html
  13. When I was a teenager in 1967 myself and all contemporary Soul fans used to write to fanzines and share our home addresses. What changed? It's must be something to do with the root of all problems which is money. Who is Brico Maligno? I’m pretty sure I know who he is BTW. It’s not rocket science and if any of you think he deserves anonymity well I’m not surprised.
  14. I didn’t know Wayne but he was one of us. RIP Sir
  15. That’s the one Ken. I was amazed to see the reference to Revilot’s address.
  16. Regards the scans at foot of OP, it is interesting that Palmer were sharing the same address as Revilot. I’ve got another address for Palmer up near the golf course. It is also good to see Handleman mentioned. Regards the Golden World address of 11180 12th, it was actually 11801 in case anyone is interested in paying a visit. Wingate used this for a short period towards end of 1963. I took this photo of 11801 in 2001. Use “menu” to go to the 8th page which is called “11801 12th street”. If anyone is interested in the creation of the name Myto Publishing it tells you on that page. https://soulfuldetroit.com/web07-golden world/golden world story/index.html Thanks to Roburt for uploading these extracts.
  17. Love the handclaps on this excellent video too.
  18. Regards John Manship comments. I have a photo of Tommy Mealy which I took in 2006. A real dapper dan. Haven’t seen it for ages so need to be patient as I try to find it. If anyone is interested of course.
  19. Earlier, I thought he was in each photo. photo 1 centre back photo 2 right photo 3 centre RIP Norman
  20. Here’s to another year of listening pleasure. Merry Christmas to the forum and to those who gave us the music.
  21. It must have been amazing to have played a part in the incredible Motown story. Bertha thank you for the part you played in bringing the Velvelettes together. RIP Bertha
  22. A real hero of the Northern Soul scene. JJ could have bragged about becoming a Motown artist but his first love was always Mickays, Ric-Tic, Gooovesville and Revilot. Motown recorded him but that material stayed in the can for many years until it was saved by the Northern Soul scene. This one is from Revilot 222 and was first recorded by Darrell Banks. JJ was right up there with the best. RIP.
