  1. Just read this. Very sad as the pointer sisters send him back was the 3rd northern record I bought at the age of 12.
  2. Yes the night is to enjoy yourself!! and for me it is the combination of the music and what label it is on . This is the only music that I have loved since I was 12. And as a collector as well it is important to me to get the original if I can afford it. I'm not saying anyone else has to agree with me we all like different things. I wouldn't like to go for a nice meal and ask for a decent single grape shiraz and be served a house red . Since my 2 strokes I have forgotten so much about the music that it is like a new learning curve for me again but that's the way life is. Hope this helps Regards Mick
  3. Very sad news. Another empty space on the dance floor down here and another space filled on that eternal dance floor upstairs along with everyone else who we have lost. Rip Condolences to her family and friends With love Mick & Kevin
  4. My thoughts are the same. Due to health problems until I either know that the virus has gone away or I have had a vaccine I can't see me going to a niter for a long long time. Hopefully things will return to normal and I will be able to go to a niter again. The thought of knowing that I have already been to my last one is too much to contemplate
  5. Off the top of my head i can't think of the labels but I bet if we were stood outside a niter chatting away we would. And at a niter it matters what its played on otherwise someone can buy 100 bootlegs and play things that someone else has took years to collect and it's that passion that matters
  6. I can imagine the chin strokers naming 2 or 3 different labels like we do stood outside a niter freezing our tits off
  7. 😥 a sad loss. Rip
  8. A great cheap one on this label . Little bit of an intro but good when it gets going
  9. I know that it's not a modern record but all I can think of is Never learned to dance -- Harvey Averne dozen
  10. Another drummer getting carried away is on The Prophets I Got The Fever especially during the break in the middle
  11. Looks like a trouser press from a hotel room
  12. A whatologist? I need to get my ears tested.
  13. Was supposed to be doing some gardening. Now I'm sat here listening to music 😁
  14. Ha. Just streamed it through my tv and sound bar. Can certainly hear a deep grumbling noise. Would never in a million years known what it was.
  15. Not lucky enough to own one of these. Have had a listen to the ones on YouTube not sure if it's my ears or because I am listening on phone i can't hear it 🙉 . Any idea what time in the record you can hear it? Thanks mick
  16. Possiblynot the best photo I have had taken but my son was in hysterics when I answered the door dressed like this. Also refused to take me shopping while I was wearing this
  17. I watched it with my son Kevin as after reading what people had put we never dreamed it could be that bad. But we were crying with laughter. It certainly made a grey Sunday morning a lot brighter. We are now saying that we like rare soul music to people and have no idea what northern soul is. Never mind KTF this was more WTF
  18. I found my Mac Staten for 50p at a car boot sale in 1989 when it was still covered up as Bobby Angela 😁
  19. When I suggested this to Mike I had been listening to some old cassettes and after listening to both it was almost a 50 50 vote but I just prefer Ree Flores although I would like to have either copy in my box
  20. Many thanks for that. As always someone on here will know all these little bits of information . Mick
  21. Hi can anyone she'd any light on this unusual label release. As you can see mine is the one with label scan on discogs. But with a bit of care I have managed to peel the tape off which was covering the label. And it is credited to the ideals and music by the outlaws. Which I haven't seen on either of the label releases. I was just curious if it was just a local release before it got onto the US billboard charts and was released on Cortland and Satellite (different mix). Many thanks Mick
  22. For me it has to be the Leicester oddfellows alldayer may bank holiday 2019 as although I have been on the scene since 1980 I was asked to do a spot at my favourite venue.. I loved every minute of it and it was a big tick off my bucket list.😁 Greedy mick
  23. Didn't know about the different colour papers used thanks for sharing . Another piece of information to store away and then spend 2hrs trying to remember at an all nighter.
