Barbara McNair ‘BabyAGoGo’ instrumental?
Facinating listening to those guys talking about the 3 track upgraded to 8 track in 64 and all the issues they head with the recording heads and echo chambers. Cheers for that.

Nick Cowan BBC Merseyside Short Clip
Thanks anyway. Back then to hear any type of Northern on the radio was a real novelty. I think thats why I remeber him on Terrys show so well. Plus he was a really nice guy and so enthusuastic.

Nick Cowan BBC Merseyside Short Clip
Fanstatic stuff. I sent a few requests in to Nick fairly sure he played Burning Bush for me one night and possibly patti and the emblems. Thanks for digging that out but I must ask "Can I have some more" ? Please.

Terry Callier
Thanks for that I didnt know he was from Stoke. I saw him dj a few times in the north west one club in St Helens where he played frankie and johnny when it was huge and also at the Carlton Warrington. Don't know what happend to him after that. I dont recall seeing him at Saints Club St Helens in the 90's. I enjoyed chatting to him as he was always after 60's newies to play when the scene really needed it before Stafford came along.

Terry Callier
First time I heard anything by Terry Callier was around 78/79 when a guy called Nick Cowan played "Look at me now" at the Carlton Club in Warrington. It had such an impact on me I found one within a couple of months. Nick was a guest on Terry Lanaines BBC Radio Merseyside's Keep On Trucking show and did a few local clubs back then never heard of him since.

Casino nights.
Possibly the Horseshoe or Water Wheel but that was under a huge block of flats.

Martha Reeves Live At Wigan Casino Part 1
It was indeed a great night I was pushed right up to the stage by the crowd and she bent down to shake hands with me and few others. I seem to recall she started off with "Forget Me Not" then later eveyone was shouting One Way Out and as mentioned above she did it accapello with the crowd joining in.

Best live soul act you have seen?
George Benson at the MEN, Edwin Starr the Ritz and The Exciters Wigan Casino.

where's the most progressive northern nights?
I dont know the answer to your question but it's the same reason I stopped attending venues a while ago because the venues near me just played top 500 or nothing new (I mean nothing new 60's wise even though I love modern new). Top 500 is still huge and a massive nostalgia trip so I dont blame folk for attending one bit its not for me anymore, sad for me but the scene thrives on it.

Where did you first hear these tunes?
Good point and very important during the wilderness years after Wigan and Stafford for us who didnt get to the 100 club

Where did you first hear these tunes?
The ones that kinda stand out for me in that list are Terry Callier. Which I first heard at the Carlton Club in Warrington played by Radio DJ Nick Cowan (where is he now I wonder). I asked who it was and a few months later I picked one up in the record bar at Wigan around 79/80 for £3. Reggie Alexander I think was Keele ? could be wrong tho. Posse, L Alan, Cashmeres all Wigan. Tommy Ridgley Stafford? Donna Coleman Wigan/Stafford? not sure. Ruby Andrews Saints Club St Helens 90's?

Manship’s copy of Cecil Washington on Prophonics
Mega tune and an overiding memory of late 70's Wigan. You had a job finding space on the dance floor when Richard dropped this on by Joe Mathews as it was then. No idea what it will go for but worth every last drop for a proper one. There are rarer records not as good for me and cheapies probably as good but this thing has class, provinance and its laid down in stone as an absolute seminal classic.

The First Record That Got You Hooked ?
The first few singles I heard didn't really inspire me that were brought home from Blackpool Mecca by my sister What Kind Of Lady and Pete Warner. Then at school (Pey Guerin) a lad I knew brought in an LP with Tell Me Its Just A Rumour Baby on and another school mate Jimmy lent me Storm Warning and James Carr "Thats what I wanna know". After that I was hooked this was around early 76 and by December I was at my first Wigan nighter.

Dean Parrish RIP
It was very sad to hear that news. I'm On My Way must have been in the first 20 northern singles I bought all those years ago. A must back then for the newbies like me and to eventually hear at Wigan in the TBE was just amazing. R.I.P

Ben E. King - Gettin' To Me
I recall Ady playing this on Richards radio show one day a long time ago whilst driving and forgot to pull off at traffic lights listening to it. What a tune!
