  1. Surely there's a competly different market for wands done by Debbie McGhee......
  2. Pete, It's a fabulous tune and also came out on Rip Cor. This is a strange one, as a lot of dealers put a high price on it. But if you see it go through Ebay, it goes for significantly cheaper than the "book" value. If you have a couple of deep collectors who want it, maybe it could attain that price. But saying that, it's not that rare and would expect this record to be already sitting in many deep collections. I know i haven't realy given you a price, but I hope it helps in some way?
  3. Oh come on Brett.... you're as much of a train spotter as me. I bet you've been itching to post a list up.
  4. Nope, it also got issued as well. Its virtually the same as the original demo, but without the "promotional not for sale" text and is styrene whereas the re-issue is vinyl. I put up a scan of it a few years ago and even Garry commented that he hadn't seen one before. Cliff Steel's also got one and I would assume a few others too. Heres the link to the thread:
  5. Would have thought about £20 or less for the re-presses. There was a good thread a couple of years ago about these and comparing them to the originals as they're pressed off of the same plates.
  6. I think only the single Spinning Top on Beale St. got released in the US. I read a while back that this LP was concieved when she was touring in Japan and had some mastertapes with her, hense only the Japan release. I've seen it sell for around £50 recently, but if soulfulness was the only factor of price, it'll be a grand. I have so many fond memories London clubs in the 80's when I play this LP, probably played by Ivor........
  7. I've wondered this over the last few years and it's got nothing to do with getting hold of limited edition 7's on the hope of making a profit. In the 60's/70's some records were pressed in their thousands, if not more for the bigger hit's. These days demand is smaller so labels dont want to over-spend in pressing records they're not going to sell or press too little, thus losing out revenue with third parties making the money as demand increases. So, what sort of numbers of new vinyl releases are pressed these days?
  8. I posted this one EMS last month During the snow I caught a consumer expert discussing distance selling and how the snow affected late or lost postal items and she said that the buyer is not liable for any loss until they have accepted it. The following information can be found on the office of fair trading web site. Can I charge the consumer the cost of insuring items that I send out? 3.20 No. These items belong to you until they have been accepted by your consumer. So you cannot charge your consumers for carrying risks that you should bear. See paragraph 3.36 for more information. Can a consumer cancel an order before they receive the goods or where goods are lost in transit? 3.35 Yes. Where the DSRs give consumers rights to cancel, this right is unconditional. If consumers cancel before they have received the goods you must refund the total price of the goods, including any delivery charges. Consumers who have cancelled under the DSRs may refuse to accept delivery of the goods. Refusal in such a situation cannot be treated as a breach of contract. 3.36 Where goods are lost in transit from you to the consumer you will need to either send new goods or offer the consumer a full refund, including delivery charges. See paragraph 3.20 for more information. So from what this information tells me; is that until the item is in the buyers hands the item is still the sellers property and they have to replace or cover the full costs if the buyer doesnt recieve it. https://www.oft.gov.uk/shared_oft/business_leaflets/general/oft698.pdf
  9. Jean Plum - Look At The Boy/Back To You - HI, easier to get on UK London, very tough on Hi issue, Gareth do you fancy selling me yours? Jean Plum - Pour On The Loving/ You Just Ask Me - HI, tougher than you think, as i've seem more Here I Go Again issues Ceasar Frazier - Child Of The Wind/Till Another Day - Westbound, normally a single sided Demo of Child Of The Wind and didn't realise this was hard to get on issue until Ady asked for a scan of Till Another Day for one of the Westbound CD's Bobby McClure - I Ain't Gonna Turn You Loose / Hard Luck - Hi, never seen an issue of this, but have always assumed they're in someone's collection. Charlene and the Soul Serenaders - Love Changes/Can You Win - Volt. Really hard on a Volt issue, virtually impossible on Paradox Bill Brandon - Rainbow Road/You've Got That Something Wonderful - Tower, someone mentioned they had an issue in a thread about 2 years ago
  10. I too never thought of any of the differences between the Mono and Stereo releases. Checked mine today and its Mono with the same details mentioned before. Mine also has a deletion hole in the bottom right of the sleeve, but sadly no metal circle. I wonder what price differece the cutouts with and without the metal circle is.....
  11. I ain't expensive, but does anyone have one they dont want? Min Ex+ Cheers John
  12. There's not much prestige in just playing good quality soul music these days....
  13. Now talk of CD's you'll get a reputation..... I think the other tracks can be similar, but there lots of funky instrumental workouts and has that "Live Band" feel that you have with the Kings Go Forth and Sharon Jones releases. I like their version of Barry Whites - I'm Gonna Love You and I've Got Mine reminds me a bit of the Brand New Heavy's
  14. I think the Paradox release has always been in-demand by deep collectors even though, Love changes is available on the cheaper Volt W/D. I also think its the more recent exposure of Can You Win, that has pushed prices up even further.
  15. Love Changes is a cracking tune as well
  16. The Volt issue is tough, but the Paradox release is really hard. Just out of interest what one are you after?
  17. There have been various threads on great LP's or LP only tracks which always unearth great finds and has also highlighted tracks on LP's that I already own that I've missed. There's a top 1,000 LP's to listen to before you die thread on EMS, but that seems to have died a bit. Why don't you start up a new thread, I'm sure it will be very interesting and again pop up some crackers? Here is a top 100 LP article written by John Lias and came out in Voices #14 in 1990 John Lias Top 100 LP's - Voices 14 (1990).pdf
  18. I hope one never comes out. Personally the singles guides have done nothing for the general buyer and have just help line dealers pockets. Whether you like popsike and collectors frenzy or not it does give an indication of what it sold for in an open market and knowlegable people on here are always willing to help people out on here. The soul music buying community seemed to survive for quite a few years before them.
  19. I'm in dispute with a US seller on ebay. I paid for a record on 26th November and still havent recieved it, even though I've been told that it was sent express mail. The seller said in his correspondence that he's not in the business of ripping people off. It's not that I don't believe him, but I've recieved 5 things (3 from ebay and one direct from a dealer) from the States bought after the record was sent, which raised my concern. So to me it looks like its lost in the post and i'd like a refund. The biggest shame of it all is that it was a record i've been looking for for a few years and i was so pleased to win it and would rather have the record rather than the cash.
  20. I've been waiting for a package from the States since the end of November. Actually, given up hope of recieving it.
  21. I always thought the re-issue of Alfreda Brockington had a different and smaller font, but I could be wrong.
  22. Too true. I started doing it with Curtom, Invictus and yellow Stax. Ended up with tunes I didn't like and Lena Zavaroni records which is not really something to brag about.
  23. Gnarls Barkley was the name of the collaberation of Brian Burton and Cee Lo Green (on vocals)
