Why Do People Post Up While Ebay Auctions Are Still Running On Ebay
I agree with Cal and have expressed that opinion before about people blabbing about auctions (and as marc points out, never the people actually bidding) and about the ebay ads. It is not true that you can just "bid your max" and hope to win it because if more people see items it's more likely that you will a) get outbid or b) have to pay way more than you would have to otherwise. It makes all the difference with oddball unknown items, if two people see it versus five, the same item can go for $10 versus $1000. For example, there was an item that ended yesterday that pretty much has never come up for sale. I put in a ridiculous bid of $2000 since I figured I would never see it for sale again. Another big name northern DJ bid $1000 and I ended up paying a ridiculous amount for it. It was still less than my max but if that person happened to not bid I would have gotten it for about $200. This wasn't a case of soul source drawing attention to the item but is an example of the type of item that it makes a huge difference as to who sees it. There have been other cases in the past of soul source drawing attention to items that led me to lose the record or that made a huge difference in the ending price for me even though I did win it.

Be Very Careful Buying 45's As A Gift
I honestly don't understand why people don't instead offer to pay the fees not as gift as the buyer usually (not always as pointed out but usually) has to cover the fees anyways.

Jeanette Nellis: Anyone Know This Good Chess Oddity?
I liked the record (at least one of the sides), sounded definitely Black to me.

Gwen Owens Anyone?
The point I was trying to make is that I collected for many years and had more than "basic knowledge" but still didn't know what a "pressing" was supposed to be. Stuff that you consider "basic knowledge" is not necessarily universal. I did get burned a few times with bootlegs and ended up eventually having to buy manship's bootleg guide but that was many years and dollars down the line. I don't live in a world where I'm surrounded by bootlegs done for a UK market.

The Passions - Without A Warning
there is no connection. the passions are from Gary, IN and included El Anthony. After Eldridge left they changed their name to the Newday. The Amazers are from Minneapolis. Lead singer of the Amazers was Napolean Crayton who also sang lead in the Valdons and the Band of Thieves.

Top Answer From An American
man you think that's crazy, there's a british dude selling a gwen owens bootleg for 99 pounds
-
Gwen Owens Anyone?
I had many thousands of records before I learned that "pressing" was british secret code for bootleg. Just because it's obvious in your circle doesn't make it obvious to all collectors and it does not "serve em right" to be ripped off by shady dealers.

The Most Miserable Record Dealer
yeah, what led me to post his name earlier in his thread is that I noticed a new ID on ebay (that one) that was instantly recognizable as him. how f'ing shady do you have to be that you have to constantly be opening new ebay accounts. what a total sleazebag.

Label And Flipside Info Needed
thanks a lot. I am interested in a copy of the force if someone has one to sell or trade. Not looking to buy a feminine touch, at least not for 300 pounds, it's okay but i don't think 300 pounds okay.

White Cliff(S) Label From New Orleans
My recommendation for the label is the rarer second sonics 45 "just like delilah". Their first record is also a nice impressions sounding thing. I think pomonkey on here knows a lot about the label and should be able to recommend some more R&B type tunes

Impressions UK June 2011 - Manchester and London
I don't know about this specific tour, but their current lineup should be the same as the previous UK lineup -- sam, fred, and reggie torian, who was the lead singer for the longest time in the 70s (and previously in the enchanters on golden ear). super nice guy.
