  1. That's really helpful Marc. A better one! Peter
  2. Hi Grant Which Jimmy Hughes track did you buy the album for? Peter
  3. Hi Steve That's an excellent description mate - a snap shot of the times. Probably on sale at Clifton Hall - one of my favourite all niters ever. I got mine mail order from a small advert in Black Echoes I think - it was a while ago though. Mine is battered to fook - including a coffee/tea stained cover! Peter
  4. Proper Northern tune. In fact it's a storming northern tune. Innit. Peter
  5. Yep, that WVON LP is a corker in terms of what it has on it. Everyone of those tunes were massive in the early 80's - the content might well have been lifted from a Sir Dickie playlist at the time. (No association with said person intended). Obviously an illegitimate release and I think we've had at least one thread on here as to its origins. Peter
  6. Sir Bastrard! Peter
  7. And you can fook off! I thought you wanted to be my mate? Peter
  8. You're welcome Rob I'd like to say it was all me own work like - but that would be bull shitting stretching it a bit! Peter
  9. From Tricki Wicki - sounds about right The phrase "soul music" itself, referring to gospel-style music with secular lyrics, is first attested in 1961.[6] The term 'soul' in African-American parlance has connotations of African-American pride and culture. Gospel groups in the 1940s and 1950s occasionally used the term as part of their name. The jazz that self-consciously derived from gospel came to be called soul jazz. As singers and arrangers began using techniques from gospel and soul jazz in African-American popular music during the 1960s, soul music gradually functioned as an umbrella term for the African-American popular music at the time
  10. And sooooo enthusiastic too Len. He's shit at twiddling knobs and is tone deaf - but he's the man. Peter
  11. I forgot to mention - I like Sam too. Peter
  12. Check sales Tony. Someone was selling em last week - can't remember who it was off the top of my head. Peter

I agree Ian. His fantastic story telling is only out matched by his fantastic human kindness and bravery. Getting stuck in in those conditions wouldn't be easy for anyone - the stench of death, shit and rotting bodies would put many off. God bless the man indeed. Peter

Not bad Simon - the news from Keb provides a little perspective doesn't it. I don't know too much about Keb but he has clearly made his home out in the Philippines - and taken the local people into his home and heart, literally. What an example he's set - top man. Fairly typical stuff from the mayor - they're all self serving, greedy pieces of shit. Just different levels of despicable behaviour dependent upon where you live. I hope all is well at your gaff mate. Peter

    Evening Sir Nice.

I hope Keb's harrowing story motivates as many Soul Sourcers as possible to give - the people over there are still desperate. We'll not be able to match the Scottish lads heroics but we can all be heroes in a different way. Please send as much as you can. Peter

Hey, the man deserves to take a long crap.
