Bobby Womack R.i.p
Not a joking matter..... Is this true or not???. Its not effing funny by any stretch of the imagination to post, spread gossip etc of this kind of nature unless you know it's the gospel truth. I cannot fathom why anybody should want to start such a story. its bad enough when it is true but FFS let's be matter of fact about such a sad occasion when it does happen. To say I'm angry to hear its a hoax puts it mildly, but on the other side I'm effing relived it's not true. hopefully those responsible won't cross my path soon or in the future..........it should be a hanging offence if not stocks and flogging. "Across a 110th street".......... thankfully not across the other side. Dave Halsall

Misleading Beginnings
For me the only one would be Cool Sounds "who can I turn to where can I go" on Warner Bros. filing this under misleading intros would be misleading in itself, this little beauty would snap you out of a coma! it must be somewhere on the web to listen to, but I'm a vinyl man not a computer wizard, so sorry no upload. I'm sure someone will put you out of your misery and attach a sound file/bite (Suarez) or whatever they do. Dave Halsall

Craig's Warehouse
Kev great little piece of film. He is a top record dealer if not the best in the world. Never had a problem with him or his crew . I would love to go there to browse & buy, but couldn't afford the exit fee? Dave Halsall

Sue Buck R.i.p
Just heard the sad news that Sue Buck, Jon's lovely wife passed away early this evening. I was told by my wife Tina after reading a short but poignant post on Facebook from Jon. I like so many others loved the little lady to bits. It is always hard to take when someone you know passes and just that bit more when it's someone you like. RIP Sue. Dave & Tina Halsall

Prophets - Fever Info Plz
Yeah this version is a beach track but Roy Smith also did a storming version of "Fever" on Delphi and is an uptempo dancer but done with a 70s/80s production. Cracking song with a modern slant, a real roughy to find but well worth it. Dave H

Jimmie Ellis Happy To Be
The Gap between the Jimmie Ellis and the line under Century City Records is greater than the other (based on your scans) and there is no white line above the Century City Records either. it may be small differences but it does make it different. I will assume the RH scan is the original, as that's what mine looks like from memory ( to lazy to go and dig it out and double check) hope this helps??? Personally I effin hate these lookalikes, it's ok for those with knowledge perhaps but as time goes by these "big tune" lookalikes will fool the unsuspecting even more methinks. OVO is one thing but soon we'll have venues spinning OLO !!!!! Dave H.

Writing On Label - Not Always A Bad Thing
I have quite a few autographs on 45s and never classed it as WOL! the WOL labels that always makes me smile are some comments by unknowns like "not so hot" or "too fast/slow" but to my taste they are the complete opposite to the written comment.......just goes to prove that music taste is in the main an individual thing? One Show BBC
Steve that would depend on whether it's an original makers crisp or one of them bootleg supermarket brands I suppose. I'm a bit fussy on the crisp front being the only member of O.C.O. Brigade.... .....original crisps only

Dynamics - El Anthony & A J Brown
Between the 2 blue labels there's was 3 rd issue which actually was the 2nd issue, a purple lettered one circa early 90s which really does look like a Jamaican press. the second blue label came via AJ Brown himself so a legit reissue, can't vouch for the purple one tho! Dave

Van Jones And The Jays..silver Sound Or Conway?
Sebbo I believe the Conway record is the first release and pretty damn hard to find. If I had half a dozen copies I could shift them pretty easily. Having said that it's hard on Silver Sound as well, seen it at £100 on Silver Sound in Butches box a few years ago, so if Butch has that on it who am I to argue? I spun this in the Jim Wray lounge at Soul Essence some years back and it got more than a favourable response. A Top tune in my opinion. Dave

Ebay Customs Parcel Checks
Not sure if it's just coincidence, but the last 18 months my record import shipments have been heavily taxed by HM customs, the last time was back in the 90s when we had a recession in-between these dates the records just sail through with no customs etc, save one from Jamaica, for obvious reasons. I put it down to the government being skint (despite their sound bites) as it is easy money to tax anything and everything coming in. When times were good and prosperous why bother with small fry packages, far to much hassle as the weight of imports on other high value stuff brings in more revenue. Got to go someone kicking in the door Dave

Ila Vann/ Ila Govan Song Demos (1961)
Class act, as some would say proper Soul music. Love it! Dave

Jack Montgomery - Beauty Isn't Born - Is This An Original ?
I would have to agree with it being a real one as there doesn't seem to be a logical reason for a boot! Never seen or heard of a green label one though, perhaps the green label is a rare issue and all the yellow ones are demos? Not all demos have it written on the label, so unless another colour turns up we are all under the assumption that's it? Then hey presto...............another rare record....time will tell... As with some other labels sometimes the do a press or even a sample maybe and they don't like it and change colours. if you were a DJ, either on radio or club a yellow or white label is easier to read and it catches the eye. Heaven knows how many labels I have that are yellow? It used to be standing joke in our house when I would be spinning a few tunes and Tina would say "Oh I like this" and she would look at the deck and say" that figures it's on a yellow label, sounds expensive" Just throwing My halfpennys worth in Dave
