The reason there are 2 102's is because there were 2 separate runs of Ric Tic- the 1st in 1962, and then when the label was restarted in 1964- Joyce Webb is the "Pick Hit" for the week and is listed between #20 and #21-

According to Bob Pruter's book "Chicago Soul" the Vontastics were Bobby Newsome, Kenneth Gholar, Jose Holmes and Raymond Penn. I hear the similarities in their voices and it's possible one of the group members could have changed their name and became Earl Jackson.

There is a near mint stocker for sale on discogs- asking price is 999 pounds.

Discogs has the same exact info and also calls it a 1969 repress. What's strange is the company had been out of business for 2 years by then, and I don't know why they would decide to re-open their business and release the 45 again.

There's not much info on Tom Rouse on the net- in 1973 he did work for the Building Community Arts Recording Corp. where he was in charge of the BCA, Rouser and Top Soul labels. ( from the 1973 Billboard Record Manufacturers section) -

I have a feeling Curtis never heard of either 45. Triad was based in El Cerrito, California and besides KSOL (San Francisco) playing "The Soul P.W.', I can't find it getting airplay anywhere and it didn't get reviewed in any of the trade papers. The Jessie James 45 was a flop- no mention in the trades and no signs of airplay. On the other hand, it's possible he knew of both and had them pulled off the market.

To me, it sounds like the same take but sped up and with an edit near the end of the song. Judge for yourself-

The Quaker Town label was owned by Philly deejay Leon "Cannonball" Fisher.

The Quaker Town label was based in Philly- I doubt if there is any connection to Rouser.

"Because Of My Heart" was recorded in November, 1966 so- it might have been released late '66 but I believe 1967 is more likely.
