Isaac Hayes died in Memphis on Saturday 10th Aug 2008   Hayes' wife Adjowa and their young son found him unconscious on the floor near a treadmill, which was still running, at their home in Memphis, Tennessee.   He was taken to hospital but pronounced dead in the afternoon. It is with sadness I announce the passing of percussionist James 'Rikki' Hicks who left us yesterday. Rikki was The O' Jays percussionist for well over 30 years and is best remembered for his fabulous intro on The O'Jays hit record 'I Love Music'. He also performed on the Philly session I did with legend Bobby Eli in 2008 which was invaluable for me. I even carried out his congas to the car for him! God, they were heavy. Official re-release of James Kelly Duhon's very rare soul sides "So Trusting" and "So Far Down" on Tramp Records Having been featured on Tramp's recent "Praise Poems" and „Can You Feel It“ compilation albums, James Kelly Duhon's 45RPM single release "So Trusting" is highly sought after in Soul 45 collectors circles. Not many can claim to own it since it is very hard to come by. Therefore many DJs, collectors, and music lovers will certainly be made happy with this long overdue re-issue.

It has been reported on Facebook that James Lewis, a long time fixture on the Jackson music scene, has passed. He will be best remembered by recording fans as a member of Stax / Malaco group Sho-Nuff.      

Sad to report the passing of James Phelps yesterday.   James was responsible for the wonderful, Sam Cooke styled, "Love Is A Five Letter Word" and the beautiful ballad "Wasting Time" on Argo as well as being highly regarded in the UK and Europe for his Apache label rarity "The Look On Your Face".   James died at the age of 78 after what is believed to be complications arising from diabetes.   Commiserations to his family and all those who knew him.   R.I.P.   Sean

Jazz FM - Caught a bit of this on road, guest was new Northern folk hero Ginger with as always a most entertaining guest appearance.Recounting details of his recent trip to Sweden (sounds like a well thriving scene there) and delivering some of his latest top sounds, such as Dance With You - Jimmy Andrews- cover up it was most enjoyable both rare soul and laugh wise. Good to hear that many of Sweden Soul fans were familar with his current plays and cover ups through downloading off the internet
