A quick line to say that last Fridays event at the Plinston was the best yet (despite numbers being down to 300 due to illness and having too good a time at the weekender the week before!!). All 3 rooms were buzzing and Soul Sam went down a storm, playing a superb set of Modern/Crossover gems in the Main Hall that saw the floor packed and then a connissuer set in the upstairs Ghetto that made the room buzz! Top man, top set!! All the DJs did a great job in getting the dance floor packed througho
The March Caledoniasoul night in Glagow has been moved due to a double booking. The popular 60s Northern event at the Woodside Social Club was to feature Keith Money on Saturday 22 March but will now be held on Saturday 29 March instead at the same venue. Unfortunately Keith cant make it, but, another guest is being lined up and regulars Lenny and martin will be there. Call Martin before setting off on 07887 633437 to verify.
Just a quick line for the masses (or should that be massive! BO!) re: membership for the Plinston. We have had loads of mails on this point and so thought wed post the answer here to end confusion......
Membership IS optional and NOT required for entry. You can get it on the night if you wish. Wed suggest you do apply as in future lives acts, allnighters etc will be members only.
So, in conclusion, you do not need to have membership before the night (March 7th.)

A flying visit by meself and Kit to Sid and Bernadettes recently started event up (second one?) on the furthest from home side of Manchester.
As always lol in finding event, if anyone wants to know difference between Hyde Town Hall and Dunkerfield Town Hall ask us cause we now know, along with many other east manchester landmarks.
Thanks to Bernadette for looking after us, and Sid and John P who made us very welcome.

Ah the next night is almost upon us (Friday 7th March) and the ticket lines are begining to light up with the sound of those happy soulsters eager to partake of the unique atmosphere and the chance to experience the opening of all 3 rooms at North Herts No 1 venue. However, those that are still too tight to part with £5 can enter our competition via email to win 2 pairs of tickets for this night and see the start of the mighty SOUL SAMs residency at the Plinston!

I think I speak for most is saying that I really hoped that the muck-raking would stop after the Crossfire and Rocket events both went ahead successfully. However, although not a member personally, it would appear that the general custard pie slinging and gauntlet throwing on the KTF forum / list has reached silly levels. So... in an ADULT response to these shinanigans the Crossfire promoters have placed a notice on the 6Ts website

Llandudno Soul Nites and Bangor Soul At the Social both these regular monthly events are coming under the DMSC banner, no big thing its just to make life easy for all concerned and as far as Soul At Social goes it will make no difference at all with Johnny J still doing the event his own way (and all Donkey work!)
Its just for easy promotion, keep costs down and as the DMSC is all about punter friendly and quality soul, it will work well and should improve you

Waking this morning looking like an extra from Mr Jacksons Thriller video and smelling something akin to a Turkish wrestlers jockstrap, I thought it only right to post a few notes on last nights Crossfire event in London. (Forgive the briefness of the review but to be honest I need more SLEEEEEEP!) So, here we go with the main points: packed in all rooms (800 approx in), atmosphere was great, the DJs did us proud with just one great track after another (and Andy Rixs gets a special mention for m
I have just learnt of the dirty tricks campaign being waged against the promoters of Crossfire involving the attempt of individuals, as yet unknown, to cause the maximum amount of disruption to the event and to try and steer Soulies away from the venue this coming Saturday. (I am certain by the time I post this everyone will have been made aware of the details.)
As a promoter myself and as someone who knows the guys behind the event well (and admires their love of the scene and the mu

:-) The first Rare Soul session of 2003 was a huge success with over 360 in and a great night had by all. Ginger was outstanding, playing an hour and a half of quality across the board sounds, inc a few new things that have gone straight on my wants list, and The Usual Suspects kept up the quality to ensure a full dancefloor right to the 2am close. The Mojo Room was rocking to the sound of RnS and R&B and was a huge hit. The presentation made to me by Ginger (an authentic black pudding and a
Thoroughly enjoyable night at These Old Shoes.
I think each DJ only got about mins each and some had to double up. The quality was consistent all the way through. Its amazing that a small midweek do like this has lasted 4 years but it keeps going from strength to strength.
The three residents Jo, Paul and Martin have really got something special going on here.
The guests are always good and their styles vary each month. Excellent CD was given away too. 🙂
