Botanica Rare Soul at The New York Times

Interesting article on The New York Times concerning Botanica Rare Soul and  longtime internet types such as Mr Fine wine, titled 'Where Fans of Rare Retro Soul Get Their Groove on' it s worth the walkover...

Matt Weingarden was running late. Clutching a box of records, he asked the couple in the window seat at the candlelit bar to relocate. He bussed a pint glass from their table, set up two turntables and a mixer, and set his records up on the windowsill. Switches were flipped. Knobs were turned. A green light blinked on. Finally, he put the needle down.

It’s a great night, and a fantastic achievement by Matt to have been doing it weekly for 23 years.

He kindly let me interrupt proceedings and do a guest spot about three years ago. Loved it.

It's amazing the longevity of both the radio show and Botanica.

No easy task these days and almost impossible to pull off in London due to the turnover of bar owners, staff etc.
