Top Top night at Burscough a packed house for the 10th anniversary celebrations. Lots of new faces, nice to chat Brian Phillips(fascinating insight into the early days of rare soul wheeling and dealing in records. The music was top night throughout the proceedings great sets from everyone and a busy dancefloor to appreciate them,so much so when the lights came on at the end of the night, they carried right on dancing to Ted's monstrous set. Here's to the next ten years and my playlist to give a flavour of the night.

The Deletts "look at me" Blue Rock
The Volcanos "help wanted" Arctic
Dee Dee Warwick "worth every tear I cry" UK Mercury
Willie Hutch "lucky to be loved by you" RCA LP
Casanova ii "we go to keep on" Early Bird
The Accents "who you gonna love" One-derful
San Franciscan TKOs "make up your mind" Kent Anniversary
The Hesitations "is this the way to treat a girl" GWP

The Variations " I wanna take you uptown" Right-On
Paul Sindab " I was a fool" Powertree
Rudy Love "suffering Wrath" Canyon
Sam Dees "soul sister" Lo Lo
The Gambrells "you better move" Carla
Martha + The Vandellas "you've been in love too long" Gordy
The Temptaions "forever in my heart" Tamla Motown

Thanks for the review Mick, as you said a top night at Burscough Legion!

One of our biggest attendances ever, not bad for a club that's been running for ten years--many thanks to everyone for their support both last night and over the years, brilliant.

Special thanks to our guest DJs who all played two sets of absolutely superb sounds--Ted Massey, Mick Howard and Glyn Hanford, we don't think you could have heard better tunes anywhere in the country last night.

So here's to the next ten years at Burscough Legion--our next event takes place as usual on the 4th Saturday of the month which is 22nd July. Guest DJs next month are Carl Farrington, Nigel A and the double deckers Brian Rigby and Alan Caine. Should be interesting, hope you can make it!

You can come as long as you promise not to spend all night lurking about cottaging in the gents lavvies like you did before we barred you last time......Nigel was very put out by the sight of you prancing about in your best frock, offering to squirt him with Brut and then trying to charge him a quid for your services.........

Hi there, not sure if these are still available but try contacting them. The first two are within walking distance, Heskin Farm is just a five minute walk and is apparently very good. Not sure about the others, The Rufford Arms and Red Lion are a short taxi ride away.

Good luck, hope you can make it!

Heskin Farm B&B 01704 894437

Briars Hall Hotel 01704 892368

Rufford Arms 01704 822040

Stupid boy! Don't tell him your name Gamekeeper Jones......what are you two fools on about??

Anyway, the big day has arrived--we never thought that we would still be running this brilliant venue when we kicked it off all those years ago. Considering it's a little club tucked away in the sticks of rural West Lancashire and the fact that we've always played something different from the vast majority of venues in this neck of the woods we have done incredibly well managing to keep it going for the past decade.

The fact that Burscough Legion has been so successful for all this time is down to the people who have supported us and the DJs who have guested and played some incredible tunes over the years. We've had some of the countries top DJs spinning their sounds at the Legion and every month is a different mix of tunes because we have three guests on each time so you never know what to expect when you turn up!

So thanks to everyone for their support over the years and we are really looking forward to tonight's goings on, we hope to see friends old and new this evening and we hope that Burscough Legion continues for many more years to come. :thumbup:
