June 23, 200915 yr My personal favourite at the moment Norman Connors "Take It To The Limit" on Arista as heard from the Cleethorpes weekender, spun by that man Steve Womble What a record for £8! Will come up with two more when I've given it some more thought Got to agree Stubbsy, a dancefloor classic- if you can pick up his uplifting "You Are My Melody" mid eighties USA 45 on Capital. Its well worth a £5.00 and little known for a major label product. A Record Corner big seller back then.

June 23, 200915 yr Makes you wonder why good folks bother, nailed it - pure boredom. Edited June 23, 200915 yr by Nick Harrison
June 24, 200915 yr Depends what you mean by modern soul!! As many on here might mean it: 3. Motherfox - Fallen Into Love 2. Mind & Matter - I'm Under Your Spell 1. Melvin Moore - All Of A Sudden As I tend to mean it: 3. DJ Man-X & Albert Sterling Menendez feat. Blaze - Consequences (Man-X Sunset Nights Vocal Mix) 2.Teena Marie - Congo Square 1. Lee Fields - The Only One Loving You I'd like to request something off the new Will Downing CD too to make it 4 in that latter set............a difficult choice with so much great stuff around!!!! Cheers, Mark R
June 24, 200915 yr Can this really be classed as "modern"? No , its just Richie showing off his hotbox LOL

June 26, 200915 yr Just goes to show Sean there's still quality soul still being produced in year 2k when i 1st heard his vocals on this track it did it for me and i just can't stop playing it not bad for a rap artist is it I've got everything by him. "Keep Your Head Up" is an anthem. Also check out his "Smile" track... been playing it out on a regular basis and always gets a Positive reaction! Awesome singer. Sean

June 26, 200915 yr What, all two albums? A lot more than two my little Modern Soul Meister! There've been THREE on his own and many collaborations with the likes of Alicia Keyes, LL Cool J, Snoop Dogg, Talib Kweli etc... And I've got 'em all! Hows your Lyfe Jennings collection doing? Sean
June 26, 200915 yr A lot more than two my little Modern Soul Meister! There've been THREE on his own and many collaborations with the likes of Alicia Keyes, LL Cool J, Snoop Dogg, Talib Kweli etc... And I've got 'em all! Hows your Lyfe Jennings collection doing? Sean No, there's been two plus a couple of special editions of his second one with extra tracks hasn't there? I've wasted my money on both of them Sean, he's got a decent voice but his material is very weak imvho mate. Roger
June 26, 200915 yr No, there's been two plus a couple of special editions of his second one with extra tracks hasn't there? I've wasted my money on both of them Sean, he's got a decent voice but his material is very weak imvho mate. Roger Three mate, 1. Lyfe 268-192 in 2004 2. Phoenix - in 2006 3. Lyfe Change - in 2008 Plus the special editions. Agree, a lot of his stuff is a bit 'iffy'. All the trademark 'Hey Yo Yo' does my head in... but he does have a remarkable voice and for the handful of tracks where he delivers, vocally, its some of the best 'Raw Soul' stuff I've heard from this century. Sean Edited June 26, 200915 yr by Sean Hampsey
June 26, 200915 yr Yup.....I have three Lyfe Jennings albums.....all different ones so far as I'm aware, so I've only got one version of the one that you're saying was reissued!! Cheers, Mark R
June 26, 200915 yr I stand corrected, apologies. I must have just ignored the 2008 one because the first two were so poor.

Sean Oi you Mr H stop talking about this new fangled stuff, it can't be soul, and answer my Bill Brandon question on other thread (by PM), I can't PM from work to remind you!! And Dodger wash your mouth out with soap, there are at least 2 great tracks on each CD which make them compulsory in my view, and I am pretty sure it was you who recommended the first for me...........
