HI Steve, This promotion is nothing to do with Neil Jones or myself this time but as you can see, Neil's happy to DJ for Barry & the Orwell guys and we wish them all the best with it. Hi Phil.......geniunely sorry about the clash in this case and I DO try to avoid any clashes with ANY North West venue but as you seem to move between third, fourth and last Fridays this was possibly always going to happen. I can confirm that this event will not clash with you on all your dates in 2009 and in fairness, I also believe that your type of event (All Nighter rather than Soul Night)and music policy (cutting edge 60's) are sufficently specialist to attract a different clientel. I hope your sucess at Burnley continues Best BazM Link to comment

Come on......opening night, big push and all that, big venue just down the road from us.....I've bent over backwards to avoid clashes...that's why my dates are all over the place, to accommodate other promotions.....well not any more mate. ps. it says 9 till 4 in your post. Hardly soul night times. Link to comment
Bazm
You know yourself Phil even with the best will in the world there will be clashes sometimes, I have them all the time with other gigs clashing with Prestwch and Lowton, unfortunately, it IS gonna happen. As I say I think this will only occure twice in the next 6 months with Burnley, so it is minimal. Speaking to people, you have a very loyal crowd at Burnley and reading the reviews from last month the music was what they wanted to hear. Bury will be predomiently an Oldies night with the Orwell room featurng Crossover and 70's, so I honestly dont think the twain shall meet on this one. The 4am finish was simply to give added value cause we only start at 9pm raher than 8 it's definitely NOT and All Nighter Link to comment

Hi Jayne Well I think our first night was in June 2000..........so we were using artistic licence on the original May gig and now we're a month into our tenth year I believe Mr Maleady is planning a Bury anniversary night on your 'normal' October anniversary..............which is nice cos we can have two anniversaries a year now................................and maybe a third when we celebrate our 'coming together' anniversary next July Cheers Steve Link to comment

An anniversary for each room does make sense though, especially considering how long you've kept the Orwell going and the amount of tracks that have been heard for the first time there and the success you've had so far with it. Remember, October was the North Manchester Soul Club's anniversary though - & not when the nights started at Bury Town Hall. I really hope there isn't an 11th anniversary night after just 3 months in the venue. My understanding is that it's a completely new event by a completely new team. Maybe I'm a bit confused by it all.. Jayne.x. Link to comment

Hiya Jayne I was only joking about October (hope I've not put ideas in Baz's head) I got carried away with the idea of multiple anniversaries as a new daft PR approach I think if we're lucky enough to have a first anniversary at the relaunched BTH it should coincide with The Orwell's 10th anniversary - simples See you soon Cheers Steve Link to comment

Yeah let's hope we get some support from past Orwellians like yourself who know what the crack is in our room, along with some new folk who want to hear what it's all about? Be great to see you, Mike & the gang again mate, as we've not seen each other since Yarmouth! DJ's in the Orwell room are Steve Plumb, Steve Connor, Baz Maleady & Soul Sam (Flanny can't make this one BUT will be back for the next one I'm sure?). I think it would have been rude not to ask Sam to headline the first one back, as he spent so much time with us in the past! I'm sure he tested out most of his new acquisitions at The Orwell, many going on to being firm favourites for him (and the odd dodgy track which was hastily 'off-hired' by the great man ) See you soon Adam Cheers Steve Link to comment
