Yep agree noticed the same myself , think its down this, unless you take an intrest in uk collecting its a bit of a secret that 3002 was the first issue , maybe there is a bit of re activation going on with the single and djs not collectors are paying a premium at the moment for any copy.

didn't know about the two different issue numbers, so the 3024 is 1975 and the 3002 is 1972, this chap has one for sale ,3024 but dated 1972, £65 a bit steep me thinks LOOK

The 1972 on the 3024 is the publication date not the release date I believe.

the 3002 issue from 1972 is not common IMO. do proper demo`s exist. all i have seen are issue copies with a sample sticker ( like mine) or a plain white label with hand written stuff on it. also there was no american 45 0f it. lets face it. if it wasnt played on the scene there would not have been a 3024 copy. also repromoted on 3024 but with a tamla motown label issued in 1979 i think

This one is the 1975 issue from Australia - It's actually a different mix without the Four Seasons - Franki Valli sings the opening lines which I think Is unique to this release.

Australia also had a 1972 release on Mowest - only ever seen a demo, but I'm sure it was issued. It has MW3002 in brackets under the release number.

Loads been up on ebay recently, three finished in the last 24 hours. Averaging about a fiver each, but there does seem to be a bit of a demand at the moment.

As stated earlier people don't seem to realise that this is the re-issue.

think £60 is a bit dear. I was thinking along the lines of £15-£30 depending on condition, But i thought it to be quite rare so i could be wrong as everybody seems to have a copy.

The first time I heard it at Wigan, I remember seeing it in the deletion box in a record shop in Ormskirk.  I bought it for 35p and sold it the following Saturday at the Casino for £5, no problem.  Good money then!!!

That was definitely the case at the first "last nighter" (Sept18). I was never one for Ms but most of my mates were and they were dancing up on the balcony as it came to an end. I went up there and hung about just out of interest to see what the last record would be. It seemed to overrun by quite a bit  and then The Night ended it all.

 

Not sure what happened at the two? nighters  they had after that or even if Ms was open.

Yes but the Mowest reissue sold 100,000 copies and made the top 10, it shouldn't really be worth more than a single by The Wombles or Mud, the black Tamla Motown issue was in the late 70's and probably only sold a couple of thousand.

The light blue A on the image is the demo denomination, In 2000 I did a 4 month tour of Australia and found loads of these demos, most were run of the mill tracks, never saw this one though even after looking through the biggest soul/black american private collection in Aus, Sydney, Got a lot of good stuff on that occasion Which paid for more than double the cost of the whole expidition.

I didn't realize that the motown issue was so rare, But still £20 for a third issue?.  Unless your trying to complete the series (that's probably the answer), i still wouldn't pay that.
