I was thinking the other day most people I would guess have grown up kids , maybe some are on their own and would like this idea ?

Do you think a soul night would work on Christmas day , after everyones had their family get together and stuffed themselves silly ..would a dance get together in the evening be welcome ? If you are like me by about 4pm I am bored rigid , quite like the idea of slipping down to a soul do , and the bonus is you have boxing day to recover

I was just wondering if many would attend ?

I know of place in Manchester (hotel ) that might be interested if enough numbers were interested , they could prob do with the bar takings being high on what is normally a quiet day I guess ... I just wanted to get a feel of numbers to see if it could be a goer... thinking of a free event if possible no entrance fee charged , and dj's play for free .. basically a share tunes session and catch up with some mates , new friends , and also help those that face Christmas day alone .

Personal opiniun - I don't think it would work. Boxing day? - Yes, I remember in the 90's we all used to be 'chomping at the bit' to get toThe Ritz at Manchester on Boxing day it was a fantastic nighter with the added Christmas atmosphere.

It's a thank less task now promoting Nige, like you say you simply can't win. I often wonder if it is worth the hassle.

Oh no I wouldn't do it as a promotion Nige if I did anything it would be a private function with invitations ... just wondered how others felt about souling on Christmas day ? I think from the small reaction I have had people still hold Christmas as sacred family time , which is not a bad thing.

Would depend where it was being held but I agree Christmas is boring after the morning part is outta the way, however such a lot of people do seem to prefer to stay in with the family Xmas day so mayve not likely to be a popular day

Actually PT i think its more like their wives/partners / Mums won't let them out ......PML its most likely the only day where they are told you will stay indoors !

Hi Carmen I hope you're keeping well chicken very tricky situation this one I've a funny feeling we're going to get a bad winter this year and it'll probably be a couple of weeks early .So any plan's for Christmas is a bit iffy , however there could be something in this idea as a lot of people do go away for christmas as they may be on thier own or may be aithiests or agnostics or just don't like being at home.Probably one of these Christmas break type thing's with a "northern soul" theme at a hotel could be a goer so you could have a Christmas eve soul night/nighter , Christmas dinner could give way to a lie down and digest type soul afternoon where the dj's could play loads of deep soul/midtempo gems ,later mince pies and brandy followed by an nighter.boxing day could start with a great breakfast of black pud ,bacon a goose egg and plenty of bubble and squeek toast and tea then on to a dayer with a break in the afternoon for cold turkey and stuffing cob's (rolls, baps . batche's teacakes,muffins or whatever else bread rolls are called in the area) Christmas pud with brandy butter ,mince pies , coffee brandy then a nighter and plenty of after eight type chocky's during the night.Anyone up for it? fondest regards my dear, Simon.
