who played this first? I'd have said Searling or perhaps Soul Sam, who I personally associate it with. Some people say Nev Wherry.

It always reminds me of Nev Wherry Macca - although I think itย was a Sam spin first.

Definitely a Sam spin yes it was covered as Lenny Curtisย  isn't it Ernie Lucas under a pseudo nameย  He also recorded another single on blue star as Lord Jim & the V.I.P'S

So perhaps Nev acquired it from Sam when he'd started to play 100% new releases. Nev's definitely associated with it in some circles.

Nev got his copy the same time he got the second copy of Rita & the Tiaras which would be back end of 78

Last record For Manship sets at Cleethorpes Pier he sold it to Nev when he quit DJing

Tangent...I recall a WD copy being sold by someone in London many, many years ago...wish I had taken a picture...if only we had smart phones back then!

Add that to the regular blue promo and the 'star-design' blue promo...but were there ever stock copies on any design?

Great track regardless of the label design!

Another Nev Wherry play, along with Sam and Richard, i seem to recall, i think Johnny Manshipย may have the truth on origin on this one (he's getting bit old now), Sorry John!

Come on John, give us the ย load ย down on this disc, i know it came fromย you. Nev told me.

Bless.

I bought Sam's copy directly from him - must have been about '78 or '79. He had just uncovered it.

First copy discovered in Pittsburgh 1978 by JM. was his last record to manyย sets at Cleethorpes Winter Gardens. Taking over from "Paris Blues" as his last record.

That's my recollection as well .... first spun by JM as Lenny Curtis - Not Another Day ... I might even have a cassette tape in the garage of the Cleethorpes spot where it got its first play

Apparently the song was recorded at the infamous Gold Star studio in L.A.
