Guest
HI there boys and girls, this time I'm giving you 2 full weeks notice I'm unable to play out and shake my bootie before this event, so would like lots and lots of you to come along and join in my fun According to the website, the guests for this evenings frivolities are Carl Fortnum, Mick "I'll play anywhere" H, Alex Jones (he's got Sharron McMahan so he gets my vote) and the one and only Dirk Pearson Musically it looks as though there'll be some spectactular tunes played, unless they listen to me heckling and play all my requests Venue wise, this place can't be beaten - its clean and smells nice, the dance floor is fantastic, the seating is comfy, the car park's secure, and the ladies on the door are scary but nice (ooh they're gonna tell me off now ) If you think, oh I've been out loads I'll give this a miss and go to the next one - DON'T. The whole area is being built up, and Fred Box tells me that the owners are just holding out for the right price before selling up. This venue hasn't got forever left, so come along, make some new friends, have a dance, buy some records - and if you're really unlucky you'll get to meet ME Link to comment
Guest Trevski
Nice on Kirst, Will be there as usual WILTON they don't come no better! Link to comment
Guest
That's cheered me up, realising there is only 2 weeks to go to the next Wilton. We are celebrating Sarah's birthday a few days early there, she did tell me not to tell anyone it is her birthday though Also Alex Jones is my best friends fella, so I'm sure me & Alison will be cheering him on. Hope the Wilton dosent end too soon, grerat place, fond memories. Oh, & just remembered, I know it's a long way off, but at Piercebridge Bernie from Middlesbrough told me that her & Andy Peake are having their wedding reception at the November Wilton. It's also Andy's 50th. Let's hope a lot of friends go down to support that. Kx Link to comment

This venue hasn't got forever left, so come along, make some new friends, have a dance, buy some records - When the Wilton Ballroom all nighters eventualy end it will be a sad loss for the soul scene, people who attend regularly & others who don't get to go as often will miss it badly, & some who've never attended will say they wish they had. It deserves to go out with a bang & those who can make it should give it the support it deserves, & those who aren't bothered should hang their heads in shame. Mark Link to comment

PS-Soul
Despite working 12 hour shift on Friday 6am - 6pm we'll be there. The quality of music should stop me falling asleep and then i'll stay in bed all day Saturday ready for another 12 hour shift on Sunday. This will be our 3rd Wilton, love the venue and the music, hope the owners don't sell out as stated earlier as this would be another nail in the coffin for rare soul in Yorkshire. The owners are holding out, but as EVERYTHING around them has been turned into an industrial area, can't see that they'll hold out forever. Only made a point of mentioning that it won't last forever as people are always saying "yeah I'll go next time" - well there may not be too many more next times! Have noticed that none of the Sheffield peeps have been for quite a few now - is it a case of if one stays away you all stay away? Anyway, I don't know why I started this thread - I'm going and I don't give a rats arse if anyone else comes along or not. The dancefloor is the best there is - and thats where I'll be - unless I'm menacing someone somewhere else Edited September 12, 2006 by Guest Link to comment

By the posts on the site it should be a good night.Looking forward to it. Dave  Link to comment

The owners are holding out, but for as much ££ as they can get, not because they want to keep it! When the price is right, they will sell, and as the Wilton is the only bit of free land not developed, the ££ must be rising.I think all "Wiltonites" past and present should make a pact not to miss anymore, before we have to say farwell to one of the longest running, and IMHO, best, venues Edited September 12, 2006 by Trevski Link to comment
