Wilton Ballroom Friday 15th September

HI there boys and girls, this time I'm giving you 2 full weeks notice

I'm unable to play out and shake my bootie before this event, so would like lots and lots of you to come along and join in my fun

According to the website, the guests for this evenings frivolities are Carl Fortnum, Mick "I'll play anywhere" H, Alex Jones (he's got Sharron McMahan so he gets my vote) and the one and only Dirk Pearson

Musically it looks as though there'll be some spectactular tunes played, unless they listen to me heckling and play all my requests

Venue wise, this place can't be beaten - its clean and smells nice, the dance floor is fantastic, the seating is comfy, the car park's secure, and the ladies on the door are scary but nice (ooh they're gonna tell me off now  )

If you think, oh I've been out loads I'll give this a miss and go to the next one - DON'T.

The whole area is being built up, and Fred Box tells me that the owners are just holding out for the right price before selling up. This venue hasn't got forever left, so come along, make some new friends, have a dance, buy some records - and if you're really unlucky you'll get to meet ME

That's cheered me up, realising there is only 2 weeks to go to the next Wilton.

We are celebrating Sarah's birthday a few days early there, she did tell me not to tell anyone it is her birthday though

Also Alex Jones is my best friends fella, so I'm sure me & Alison will be cheering him on.

Hope the Wilton dosent end too soon, grerat place, fond memories.

Oh, & just remembered, I know it's a long way off, but at Piercebridge Bernie from Middlesbrough told me that her & Andy Peake are having their wedding reception at the November Wilton.

It's also Andy's 50th. Let's hope a lot of friends go down to support that.

I'm just hoping that I'll have some naughty people to play with wicked.gif

So, yet again I'll ask - who's coming to play? I'll have sweeties to chew and lollies to suck AND :shhh:

He was very well behaved at Piercebridge, maybe because he didnt have his partner in crime with him, Mr Johnson, think he must have been missing him wicked.gif

Will it be invasion of the goolies :shhh::lol: ?

Going to try & drag Louise out. She'll probably not be up for it though with work in the morning. Going to try & persuade her though.

See you both next Friday :shhh:

Yes, I loved Sheridans, just a shame I had to leave so early.

Dont have to leave early at The Wilton, so should be able to listen to great tunes all night. Only down side is I'm driving

When the Wilton Ballroom all nighters eventualy end it will be a sad loss for the soul scene, people who attend regularly & others who don't get to go as often will miss it badly,

& some who've never attended will say they wish they had. It deserves to go out with a bang & those who can make it should give it the support it deserves, & those who aren't bothered should hang their heads in shame.

Despite working 12 hour shift on Friday 6am - 6pm we'll be there. The quality of music should stop me falling asleep and then i'll stay in bed all day Saturday  ready for another 12 hour shift on Sunday.

This will be our 3rd Wilton, love the venue and the music, hope the owners don't sell out as stated earlier as this would be another nail in the coffin for rare soul in Yorkshire.

See U all there

Hope somebody will be there to join us, as it`s Arthur Fenn`s birthday party on Friday & most of the rare soul fraternity are going there, so I`m told. :shhh::thumbsup:

Anyway firstly we`ll be going to Lord Conyers @ Conisborough, Nr.Doncaster to support & enjoy Soul Sam. :good: Then it will be on to Wilton for us in the hope that we`ll find like minded people there to talk to.

Don't think anyone has said the Wilton is finishing yet have they. There have been threats to the closure of the Wilton Ballroon due to redevelopement for years. Think it will happen especially now they are develpoing to the side but when I don't think anyone knows yet?

Would go along with that. The owners are holding out, but as EVERYTHING around them has been turned into an industrial area, can't see that they'll hold out forever.

Only made a point of mentioning that it won't last forever as people are always saying "yeah I'll go next time" - well there may not be too many more next times! ph34r.gif

Have noticed that none of the Sheffield peeps have been for quite a few now - is it a case of if one stays away you all stay away? :lamsey::lol::rolleyes:

Anyway, I don't know why I started this thread - I'm going and I don't give a rats arse if anyone else comes along or not. The dancefloor is the best there is - and thats where I'll be  - unless I'm menacing someone somewhere else

Difficult choice, Brighouse or the first time at the Wilton, 10-second pause for efffect:- think the Wilton wins this month so I'll have to round up the ladies of soul from Hemsworth and take a trip. By the posts on the site it should be a good night.Looking forward to it.

Wise choice  As Kirsty & Chalky said, no final decision on the fate of the Wilton as yet, but it is looking grim. The owners are holding out, but for as much ££ as they can get, not because they want to keep it! When the price is right, they will sell, and as the Wilton is the only bit of free land not developed, the ££ must be rising.I think all "Wiltonites" past and present should make a pact not to miss anymore, before we have to say farwell to one of the longest running, and IMHO, best, venues

Dave ,

Forget Brighouse

Get yourself and Julie,Sue,Andre and Wayne along to The Wilton .

It's an excellent venue, very comfortable, fantastic dance floor and the music is second to none :thumbsup: , you will enjoy it and it will be nice to see you all, we were away in Newquay for the last Earl and we don't go to Drax anymore so don't seem to see you much lately. I'm sure Wayne has been before but if not it is well up his street music wise.

Hope to see you all there.

60's & 70's usually too much seventys for my liking, but Mr Fortnum & Mr H should give us some quality 60's all depends on the night i think,

The policy is that the Djs can play what they like!

The guests are pretty much all 60's orientated this time  - I happen to like them all this week so I shouldn't be sad for long! The residents play a good mix from 60's right thru to now! Not much rock and roll gets played - hurroah

failing that, just come along, wear some earplugs and play twister in the corner (if I can find it that is  )
