HI BROTHERS & SISTERS, May I wish all of you the very best for 2016, & I for one am so glad to see the back of 2915, after at times feeling so ill & in constant pain,  as you may be aware I have completely neglected the thread for most of the year, more of that later, but first can I thank those of you who have kept the club running through out 2015, .

Do I need to explained the rules are so simple, 10 you must own the record on vinyl to make a posting, 20 hopefully your choice will be a 45 seldom played or new to the forum, 30 any comments made should be about the record nothing else, 4) this thread is not for selling records or for promotion of events please/

The first record of 2016 is from C L Blasthttps://youtu.be/qstR_oUoT-k  A great bit of soul my copy cost £10 but have seen it sell for £100+ HOPE YOU LIKE this 5 STAR rated 45 KTF in 2016....DAVE K

Thanks mate, pleased to make your (virtual) acquaintance, yeah some great stuff here, great thread and tbh my first port of call when I come online, love hearing new stuff of this quality!

I was a bit dubious of posting that Shangris track but I just had to, I was prepared to risk being lambasted over it, pleased it went down ok. I'm not an expert on records and have a small collection of what I consider very good stuff, being as the thread rules are that you have to own the record I'm posting here only sporadically as I don't have a collection to rival a lot of the lads here but I think I've got a good ear for what makes a good tune. I love The Beach Boys and The Ronettes, Shangr-Las, all spectors output and tons of other stuff but being honest Northern is the best, just took my daughter into the city and had Shirley Ellis playing, I asked her 'is this the best record you ever heard?' and she replied 'Actually it quite possibly is' Unbeatable!

Cheers Patto, you have some good records mate!

Hi Algis, it's just been reissued on 7" this year, otherwise £100 or so for an original - there's a few on Discogs. Sounds fantastic loud

Bloody hell I join in with a bit of disco (Charles Jackson) to be sociable & leave you lot for a couple of days & there's glitterballs, sequins & glow sticks all over the place when I return :ohmy:The disco bunnies (Chris & Kev) have taken over the world, thankfully Patto has restored some sort of order

Played this out for the first time in ages last week & it sounded brilliant played loud. Also found out from someone at the night that I had the harder label design (same as the one in the vid).Must admit I didn't realise one was harder then the other???

Harry Deal And Galaxies - I Still Love You Eclipse

Well i'm just recovering from the Burnley Allnighter & a record that got a spin by Cliff Camfield in his set

The Traits - Too Good To Be True - Pacemaker

I was getting a tad worried Martyn i thought we were in the PINK OYSTER CLUB Club for a while .But i do admit to enjoying some of the 70s stuff guys im not a totally blinkered 60s Mafia man just 99.9% .

ANYWAY back to the records ive just been treated to two fantastic records.Martyn that Harry Deal is tearjerking class.Kev The Traits also great real mid nighter Northern.I dont own either but nearly bought a Traits on another label not Pacemaker, was it Garrison.Think the Pacemaker is the one to have. The Harry Deal on that label is a fair price tag Martyn nice one.

Got it from that rather nice chap Mace at a very reasonable price, think I must have caught him at the end of the night when he'd had two sherries instead of his usual one

Traits is a proper tune & far too good for a disco bunny like Kev I think he should give it to me to look after :wicked:

Cheers

Great stuff Patto, used to love it echoing around Bradford Queens Hall niters. Pitch black hall, blaring brass, off me tree under the balcony :D Top nights. This one and Donna Coleman bring it right back

Taking a leaf out of Martyn's book today and going all girl group with this one, The Cinderellas 'Baby, Baby (I still love you' (Dimension).

That really is good - also on download for those of that persuasion

Has this ever been played on a regular basis anywhere?Had mine ages & you see it listed quite regularly at various prices but can't say I've ever heard it played out myself.Bet it would sound great played a full volume at a big venue.

Not that I'm always copying you or anything Martyn lol but following on with a nice bit of Sam & Dave from me, 'Said I wasn't gonna tell nobody', here on UK Atlantic, though mine is on a nice Stax WD:-

Got this Brunswick cut in a soul pack and put it at the back of my box not recognising the name. Didn't even try it for a long time as I was only looking for 100mph northern oldies that I knew at the time. Dug it out recently to see if it was going in my box of for sales and just loved the bass on it. We bass players call the sound 'muted flats' as it's played with old fashioned Flatwound strings with a lump of foam stuffed under them so you get that muted sound with no sustain, also for someone like me who often sits in with Jazz bands where I have no idea of the playlist it hides all the bum notes!

So here it is Erma Franklin on Brunswick, hope you like it!

heres one i know martyn likes , rufus thomas / memphis train , stax records, nice to see this thread moving along again also

I was going to appologise for putting up a Northern Wigan top 500 classic but ive just looked and its not actually in the Kev Roberts book.Anyway i have a few Casino Biggies in my box  and this one is a firm fave of mine.Be warned i may have a couple more to keep flying the Northern Flag.
