Didn't use ebay or paypal I'm afraid. The money was sent by registered (signed for)mail in two different packages. The Canadian Post Office can provide all the proof I need, including a scan of his signature when he picked up the two different packages on a Friday and on Monday in early September. The weird thing, is that my mate bought a record from him only a week or so before I sent him money. He received his records - no problem. In other words: He's not really "Mr.reliable" I mean, you can't claim to be a serious dealer and treat people this way.. DO NOT TRUST THIS SCUM CB

Yeah, I bought a Northern 45 from him a couple of years back for around $700US . It was an ebay item that got no bids but I negotiated after it closed and we did the deal privately.

I seem to remember that a few weeks passed and still no record arrived . So I email him several times to ask him what's going on and he says he is having personal problems and will send it as soon as he can .......

Well, the record DID arrive OK in the end, it just took him a while to do the business. So it appears to me that he is simply an unreliable human being incapable of getting his life together enough to honour his commercial obligations in a prompt and business like manner.

He has posted sales lists on soul source on quite a few occasions over recent years I believe.

Hope you get your money , but I'd say that after this experience, all soul sourcers would be well advised to avoid him ... and perhaps our mods should block any further posts from him on this site ....

I've had quite a few dealings with Kev over the years and he's always come through for me in the end. I've had long, LONG waits for things, wrong records arrive, more long waits etc, but he has come good. I don't know what to say really apart from just keep trying. I don't think he's a crook, just seriously disorganised.

Disorganised or not.. You just don't take $$$$ from someone and then go "silent"..That's a lot of money for me!! I've sent him like 15 emails and he just doesn't bother to read them or answer them. I've talked with other collectors who have waited over a year to receive their records as well from this c***. How can he still be out there selling records to collectors?? I don't care about waiting long for records to arrive - what pisses me off is that he took my large amount of money and then cut out all forms communication. I'll make sure that this guy never ever sells anything on any public soul/funk forums again... CB

I have dealt with him before and although he's not really the fastest dealer in the

world, things usually shows up in the end. What pisses me off the most this time,

is that Kevin replied to all my emails until he finally received (i.e. stole) my money.

And then I got the "silent treatment". F*cking scum bag

It's worth noticing though, that I know at least 7-8 other people who also are still

Well I have admit to all I am in the same boat as Christian and others on this forum. I have been waiting for more than SIX MONTHS for a 45 I ordered from this b****** despite all my emails almost THIRTY and phone calls which he said on one occasion that he had sent me the said 45 only to then say he had to send me a second copy of my 45 which needless to say did not arrive either. Then he went silent on me and refused to answer his phone. THIS GUY IS A CHEATING B****** DO NOT DEAL WITH HIM. I cannot afford for this to happen as I sacrifice enough in order to buy records without being ripped off like this. Avoid this guy at all costs. As banning him from Soul Source from advertising and attempting to sell anything again it gets my vote.

Point is, though, you shouldn't have to 'keep trying' ...

If I send someone a PayPal payment, I don't necessarily expect the record to arrive within 24 hours but I do expect the record to be in the mail the next day after they get the payment - which should be the next day, if not the same day. If a seller says that they only ship out once a week due to the fact that they don't go to the Post Office every day, then it's their obligation to let buyers know when they DO go to the Post Office so that we pay 'em the day before.

If I send someone a cheque, I don't think it's too much to expect to be made to wait up to a week while it clears, but the record should definitely be in the post by the next day after the money's left my account and gone into the seller's.

If I send cash, then the record should be in the mail within 24 hours of the cash arriving. Simple as that. I usually send cash 'To Be Signed For' in the UK so I ought to have my item within four days of going to the Post Office with the envelope.

It's any seller's responsibility to live up to his or her side of the deal as quickly as I've lived up to mine. This seller obviously hasn't lived up to his side as quickly as the buyers have theirs, and there's no excuse for that at all, especially not repeatedly. We all make allowances for the odd personal tragedy that sometimes gets in the way of trying to complete a transaction, but most dogs can only eat one computer in their lifetime, and nobody has more than one mother or dad who can conveniently die just when that Larry Wright single is supposed to be on its way from a seller to you...

2 years ago I made the mistake of trying to buy records from this guy. It was only $85.00 inc P&P and I sent it international recorded. I received nothing - Confirmed that he had signed for it. Never responded to any emails at all and then has the cheek 6 months later to have the 2 records up for sale again.

Obviously I havent dealt with him again- and if anyone sees him get my cash off him and you can keep 50% of it for the privaledge of embarrasing him!

I'd start in your local police station - Not sure maybe a case for Interpol? But they can advise you on this.

Mail Fraud can lead to jail terms in the US, not sure about Canada, so starting down this line may certainly focus his attention to sorting your deal out.

OK, just got back from the Toronto and your man Lavertey was there selling. I actually bought some nice things off him but thats not what Im here for.

Spoke to him and he said he had loads more of the same and gave me the number 416 551 0688 and to call him re. more records. Try this but the 1 after the 55 could be a 7. This is a different number than in the first post.

Asked for his address but he told records were at his Grans and we would talk, he also told me he doesnt sell on ebay anymore but we know that is not strictly true from previous posts.

There is also a number in the Fryer Mantis post for a record store where he is supposed to work, this store is called Ric's Collectables and in conversation with another guy I heard him say that he still worked there "now and again". Ric is a pretty nice guy so give the number a call and see if you can find anything that way. Next time I am in there I will also ask him if he knows Kevin but I have been to Ric's at all times of the week and never seen him there.

Personal problems etc.etc. Still, not one word about the record

I've bought from him or returning my $$$$, though!! Instead he offers

me a $200 northern oldie and a place to stay, should I ever come to

Canada! Can you believe this?? Some fucking nerves. In other words;

I guess it's safe to assume that he doesn't have my record and that

he's already gone and spent my money a long time ago

So again - be warned - don't buy or trade anything from this guy - he can't

I haven't read this thread fully but had written the statement in the soulstrut one.

I managed to track him down to the blood & fire reggae forums and started spamming every thread he posted in i.e. posting a link to the soulstrut and fryer mantis threads.... then I started a new ebay user ID as it turns out he had started a new one and was selling again so I started fucking his auctions up by putting silly bids in which worked in that he said he'd send my records if I stopped, but errr didn't cos I still aint got 'em! I edited all the spams in the blood and fire forums as he assured me that I (and everyone else) would get their records in due course......

well nowts changed but the blood & fire lot have started to click:
