The scene is awash with record hunting tales of rare records being discovered for peanuts over the years !

Sadly I have more often than not had to pay the going rate as these bargains kept eluding me over the years either not bidding enough on eBay or just not being lucky enough !

However today all that changed !

Five dollars from an online thrift shop in the states and five dollars postage to the uk - ex con ! Always loved it as a track

Because I felt as you did about never getting a bargain I promised myself years ago that if I ever had one of those " I paid 50p for a £500 record and it played well, arrived on time, etc" it would be a sign that my collecting career had run its course and it was time to call it a day. The following day I was just about to turn off the computer and I spotted a Livin the Nightlife on Wand, approx £6 including the postage. It had been listed for the other side, which is actually my favourite side. I suppose at the time it would have sold for maybe £250-300. Of course I bought it, and immediately promised myself that I REALLY meant it this time, if I ever had another real bargain I'd quit. Needless to say I've never had another bargain***, so 1 bargain in 53 years proves one thing - I'm not very good at this collecting lark 😉

*** I don't count buying records cheaply in an era prior to them becoming in demand, as bargains. It's not my fault that prices have risen so massively, and still probably doesn't off set all the garbage I bought blind in my lifetime. I'm convinced that if I counted up all the awful 45's, the country, blues, rock'n'roll, pop, etc that I bought hoping they'd be awesome unknown rare soul winners that number would be higher than if I added up my entire collection today

Depends on condition but a minter £200?

Everything I buy off USA eBay I consider a bargain in that much cheaper than I'd pay here.

Maybe 3 months ago I was looking through eBay Buy-it-now and came across Barbara Mills on UK Hickory. $100. Mint. Sold it to a mate for £350. Craig Moerer's list !

my best bargain was Kenny smith - lord what's happening - GAR issue 10p from tape and disc exchange  Stratford precinct which I took to the Arndale and sold to Rod  (modersoulsucks) and Dave withers at the time thought to be demos only

I've told this story before - My best bargain is 'Chapter Five - You Can't Mean It' from a car boot sale. The lady said......"It's 50p for the big ones, 20p for the small ones".......(LPs and singles) :D

'The Embers' - What a result! One of my all time faves that.

Years ago in 1970tees I we went to a jumble sale ,if you can remember them .and a stall was selling lots of junk and things ,there was a pile of records that were for sale so I paid 50p for them about 7or 8 tunes I used most of them as frisbees, but one I liked and it was a tune by Carl Douglas, serving a sentence of life .some years later I sold it for a deposit on a cottage for £1200 result eh
