thanks for that !

think this was one of the records that got us (over here in mainland europe) into the whole thing.

Just dug out my old copy, unfortunately not with the foldable cover, so I missed out on these sleeve notes.

cheers,

m.

That is the first time  I have seen  the l'ambassador nighter in bradford mentioned in an "official" context.

I've got this on the foldable cover and there are in-depth track and artist/s notes compiled by Trevor Swaine (after Dave Evison's notes)

There was also a Vol 2 which came out in 1986 and a Vol 3 (1987)

That Sidney Barnes number always stood out for me !

I remember Dave Flynn doing some good work for Charlys records in the day.

Dave told me that he compiled various Latin compilations for Charly. We were sitting in the R&B room at the Va Va Voom NYE nighter at the time and he'd included the records being played in his compilations.
I bought the Rare Soul Uncovered when it came out, I came across it yesterday when going through my LPs for Facebook thing. Little did I know that I'd be dancing to the Montclairs at the above mentioned nighter years after purchasing the album.

Just found this thread.

Still have this fold out version at home and love this album!

This was my first compilation too and these tracks have remained some of my favorites as a result.

Funded by my job in the fish & ship shop at Trecco Bay in '84 when I was 17.

Wish I had Vol 2 & 3 - see they are around online for < £10.
