You should listen to the other side for it's lyrics, awesome. I can remember going to the Locarno with Andy, both DJing I think and we played the other side (Tears Running and Falling From My Eyes) all the way there, about 50 times, should have been 40 but we got lost as usual Off for a listen now

When Motown was good ... well, it was very good! What a buzz this sound gives me. This is really what 'upbeat' soul is all about.

two of my fave lyrics would have to be

Actually - Where were You (When I needed you!) by Ernie Andrews is not much of a dancer but its so F***king soulful its unbelievable.

Apart from the "tear Stained" soul lyrics of so many tunes, I love a lyric that tells a story from begining to end, for me a great example is the Teddy Randazzo tune "Reputation" recorded by Little Anthony on the flip of "Hurt So Bad"

Not wrong about Jerry Williams Rache, top tune. Didn't some soulie have the entire lyrics to that tattooed on his back!? Not seen anything about the late great Timi Yuro on this thread. I remember my sister telling me of how she had seen her ex with a new girlfriend 'paraded in front of her' - Insult to Injury. Or my young lady (of 14 years) telling me after we had got back together that, 'It'll never be over for me' had made her quite emotional whilst listening to it. I think those are the songs where the lyrics are true to life that have profound meaning...
