Guest Catfish
Good move to the big upstairs room with sexy dancefloor- big improvement on 'DFS' basement bar (lots of furniture) or the conservatory downstairs bar. Great selection of interesting music played. Very on-theme and dancefloor consistently populated by those genuinely interested in the tracks played as opposed to a floor full of people hurling themselves around, indiscriminately, all evening. I happened to write down Yvonne Carroll 'Please don't go', and The Trends- 'No one there'- as I didn't know and liked these. Lovely to see you again Stuart, Mick & Lucy, John & Wendy, Russ, Ray & Jo. Hello Alex, and sorry no I will not carry out a contract knee-capping for you, or relieve you of your unwanted and licked lemon lollypop. This is a great event in a superb city-centre venue and deserves to succeed, and is- I'm sure there were 50+ in last night, despite Hunstanton being on just up the road. Oldies nights- great- good fun- but does East Anglia need another? No. Do we need this? YES!! I'd rather not have to travel 100+ miles to hear something new.. let's keep this going. BTW sorry I left a little early.. I'd been decorating all day and was a bit tired- and it was foggy. Thanks Smashie and Nicey, you deserve all the mutual appreciation you lavish upon one another. Tiggerwoods
Well done Russ! I really will make it over there next year! Mark C Really enjoyed playing the different, the lesser played and the odd genuine rarity alongside £3 tunes and it all being around MIDTEMPO. For me that's soul with a capital 'S'! Thanks for inviting me and Paul J to double deck Ray and Russ ... think the theme went pretty well all round and what a brilliant room. Looking forward to the next themed night?? Playlist to follow when my braincells regroup...Two late nights and i can't hack it! Phil Rains Link to comment

Raym
Quality, Quality, Quality! A "Big city" thank you to all those that came along on Friday with open minds and open ears to listen and dance to a superb selection of Soul ranging from the big beat ballads through to midtempo and through to tracks sitting just below uptempo. My thanks to Paul Johnson and Phil Rains who really did rise to the challenge, pulling out some class records from their extensive collections for the evening's entertainment. Thanks also to Russ Holley who has supported me with these 'theme' nights and never fails to deliver quality tracks one after the other. Nice one guys. It was great to see some new faces as well as the loyal band that support us every time without fail. Good to see a fair few taking to the dance floor throughout the evening including Johnny who danced to just about everything! Absolutely fantastic! - once again to see a decent sized crowd who stayed right to the very last record - a true indicator of an enjoyable evening. Thanks all once again. Ray Mahoney. Ps/ for those that missed the evening, I recorded "live" the last hour or so of Russ and I double decking. So if you fancy sampling the atmosphere during that last hour or so (proving also the numbers still there having a great time when other Soul nights regard the last hour as the 'graveyard shift' !!) then just PM me your address and I will gladly send you a copy on CD.
