Inspired by the post elsewhere on someones friend who still loves 'Out On The Floor' and my mates love of 'Daylight Saving time' wanker.gif:lol: , whats the naffest northern soul type record you love?

For me its 'Astral Trip' by Mystic Moods. Always loved that, just something about it..... I think i have no taste sometimes

Phil Coulter - Good Thing Going? Maybe not, but I do confess to still loving Al De Lory - Right On and Kiki Dee - Magic Carpet Ride.

Surely Astral Trip doesn't qualify  great instrumental IMVFHO

For me it probably has to be the SNAKE  biggrin.gif I know, I know but it always makes me smile  :D   biggrin.gif

John no matter what anyone says The Snake has to be a record of everyones youth, I used to sing that song to my daughters every night before they went to sleep, they loved it and it was one of their most requested songs :D

I'll go with the Human Beinz too. Hang on though; it's a feckin' great record!

Nah, let's say Paula Parfitt instead! Deliciously naff.

Let it lie!

(By the way, Emma's favourite Northern Soul song is now "You don't know where your interest lies". This worries me. Always thought it a great record, but is it soul or Broadway with the right beat?)

In fact, that's just given me an idea for a new thread....

Have to say most people on 'ere will think I'm mad but I love Dean Barlow 'Three Flights Up'. There I've said it  and no I am not ashamed

Esko Affair - Salt & Pepper. Great Vince Montana arrangement over a naff catchy tune.

Gerri Thomas - Look what I've got

Playthings - Surrounded by a ray of sunshine

Flirtations - Little darling

The Snake got voted the most popular scooterist record on a certain scooter boy website a couple of years back. As a result all the DJs who used that site swore not to play it for a year. ohmy.gif Quite rightly too.

God Knows,mike macdonald great dancer ohmy.gif .

My mum used to make me sing n dance to this whenever anyone came round...

Do they have to be 'proper' soul records ? I have a penchant for No More Tears (Enough is Enough) Donna Summer & Barbara Streisand :(

Ouch, John just hit me :shades:ph34r.gifblush.gif

Ah no, really yes.gif "So I wonder where the wind blows, once I stopped to watch a tree grow" Great stuff - soulful at the least.

You and I'll agree on something one day Johnny :D What about footy? Do you share Mrs One Trout's impeccable taste?

got to agree with you ian

it is slightly gay - ie camp, OTT and melodramatic - and not the most 'soulful' record out there but what a superb, adrenalin-rush out-and-out northern soul dancer it is

but it's not no it's not what i need, it's not what's keeping me breathing

Record in itself may not be the most soulful, but I think the vocal on it is.

i dunno...do you not get slight frank sinatra hints from it?

personally think it exemplifies the difference between northern soul and soul

not dissing it though, love it to absolute bits, a record i'd never part with

I'll admit to loving Don't Pity Me - Joanie Sommers even though every fibre of my being tells me it's wrong to.

Sinatra, yeah see where you're coming from. I like to think of it as quirky soul  You have an original then presumably Dan?
