The twelve-track album which will be released on vinyl only features a collection of demos recorded six months prior to Roberta Flack’s debut album First Takes including Mongo Santamaria’s ‘Afro Blue’, Motown classic ‘Ain’t No Mountain High Enough’ and My Fair Lady’s ‘On The Street Where You Live’.

A major system login change is upcoming (2024) that may result in problems for those with 'old' emails!

 

'The ability to use a display name as a log in is deprecated and will be removed. Using an email address as part of the log in process is more secure than using a publicly visible display name.'

This is a software system change and while don't agree with the reasoning it is something that will have to implement regardless.

and then if needed change it to a valid one

A quick heads up on a couple of recent improvements to our Soul Event Guide - Local Soul Events feature

Firstly we do now have a local text based search - just  enter town/city/district for a 'ranged' (50 mile default) list of events which carries onto other weeks

Members can now also choose to use their profile location when logged in

Once a location is chosen it should then be your 'default' location  in the 'local events' section for 14 days

Shazz - Innerside (Universal Soul Mix) / (Radio Edit)

Just released, this great mix (Universal Soul Mix) of this great track was once a 'featured' top of the tree track on here way back in the late 90s, at long last it's now available as a 45!

The moody and soulful house track 'lnnerside' has been internationally popular since it was first released in 1998.

Shazz - derived from soul, house and jazz - was an identity of French producer Didier Delesalle who co-wrote the song with American-born jazz singer Ken Norris, the featured vocalist on this track.

'lnnerside' was a minor hit and was remixed numerous times but the original 'Universal Soul Mix' has remained most popular with soul fans and is now released on a 7" single for the very first time.

As the summer that never was draws to a close, we have 4 brand new Kent 45s making a breakout for the beach just in time for the Bank Holiday Weekend, complete with a new Select Soul branding.

Today, we have another story to share - the remarkable tale of The Gambrells, a previously unknown girl group from the heart of Detroit. Thanks to the efforts of our researcher and label partner, Jordan Wilson, and the discovery of long-forgotten studio tapes within the Pioneer Studio vault, we can now shed event more light on the incredible journey of Sharon, Pat, and Sandra.

Ted Massey  aka @Ted Massey has been in touch with us regarding the recent robbery  of records from his house. He has managed to put together some label scans and pictures of some of the stolen records and asked if they could be hosted on Soul Source. so people can view the scans as a reference.
