Divs are more abundant than ever......
- Divs are more abundant than ever......
Never mind the clenched fist.....this scene seems to have a nice logo.....so own up who is a heavy metal div ?- Divs are more abundant than ever......
Yes it seems 'it was rammed' has become a new essential descriptor, and the 'variety and quality of music was excellent' has slipped down the pecking order a tad..just an observation :-) Yes I know venues are expensive to hire etc...but are attendance numbers REALLY the reason people go out and does it now outweigh the quality of music ?- Divs are more abundant than ever......
Yes it's true !! There were very few cameras about in the early days, hence very few pics from clubs like the Torch, Up the Junction...and even fewer from the wheel. I was primarily referring to pre Wigan..- Divs are more abundant than ever......
Sorry I couldn't resist :-) Here's Frank and Al in top form..although maybe it should be 'You took my 'scene' away lol- Divs are more abundant than ever......
bloody ell thats a 'blast from the past' I remember them...got like a cartridge film that slotted in....seemed dead modern at the time...untill you had to wait a week for it to be developed lol :-)- Divs are more abundant than ever......
...and that poses an interesting thought For want of a better word 'bitd'...there was NO cameras. In fact turning up to an allnighter and flashing a camera about...would have been a NO NO....so much so..that it would be 'consider yourself rolled' and bye bye to the camera!! Hence hardly any pics exist esp pre Wigan. So no record of what it was about..word of mouth and 'folklore' and UNDERGROUND Imagine the next generation 'googling' Northern soul .....one shudders !!- Divs are more abundant than ever......
Blimey mate....that beats 'Brexit' for a discussion lol. Pop round mine later...I've got a tin hat you can borrow :-) Interesting though....is it just the 'mainstream' ? ...or even ANY/ALL scenes- 100 club single - Quotations/George Soule
Let me have a look tonight...I'll bring mine round to compare..must admit at first glance..the colouring does look a bit strange- Best intro?
Need I say more......than James Barnett ?...those opening bars must be responsible for more en masse dancefloor rushing than any other in the early to mid 70's- Soul Sounds record label. Legit or bootlegs?
Integral part of our Northern Soul history really. I think they are quite collectable in their own right. Not many have the 'full run' ...failing memory but was it Jeff King who did them ?. probably started late 60's.....I remember some of the older 'wheel lads' bringing back the likes of Leon Hayward and Little Carl Carlton...for us minions to drool over :-) twas only a year or two later we realised what they were !...at that time it just seemed like a really cool label !!- Selectadisc catalogue
right..it mentions the infamous 3 day week...so Dec 73 on to Jan/Feb 74 if memory serves- Selectadisc catalogue
hazard a guess ---from 1972 ??- l'Ambassador - Bradford
Proper gaff that !!...had a 'lost' weekend there once...after spending all night in that cellar and going back to '|Scotch Pat's flat in Rochdale after...what was that phrase again ??'''no sleep till Tuesday !!. Think Swish was Djing and maybe Julian Bentley ??- What was the cheapest record you regularly DJ'd with in 2016?
Been giving this a spin, when the opportunity arises......oft overlooked stormer from Hose st- **Free N Easy** @The Vale Congleton 27/11/16
veritable 'smorgasboard' of quality sounds ...well done lads- First all nighter record that you remember most
I got the fever..Prophets .. shook the walls (and me) at L'Ambassadeur in Bradford- Sad news - John Ar
Very sad to hear RIP- Shamettes price help please
I think I'd be happy with one at that price :-)- Bootleggers. How low will they go ?!?
A very POSH description !! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Herb-Ward-Strange-Change-ARGO-Licensed-Laser-Matrixed-Repro-Northern-Soul-/152282877032?roken=cUgayN&nma=true&si=AwC68WFgoo5mKtAVGu0mOLw3vu0%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557- Bootleggers. How low will they go ?!?
